Bio

Charlie Hodgson is currently the Chief Executive Officer of the South Australian Cricket Association, a role he has held since March 2022. Hodgson’s career in cricket administration and commercial operations spans over 30 years, with a strong connection to Surrey County Cricket Club.

Hodgson first joined Surrey CCC as a player and later moved to the commercial department in 2005. During his time as the Commercial Director of Surrey County, a role he held for 7 years, Hodgson oversaw a growth in Surrey CCC membership by over 50% over a five-year period. Additionally, he was responsible for increasing sales in the club’s conference and events business from £1.1m to £6m annually.

Hodgson has held several other key roles during his time at Surrey, including sponsorship manager and head of sales in the commercial department. He was promoted to the Surrey Cricket Management Board and the board of Oval Events, a joint venture between the club and Compass Group, in 2011. In 2019, he was appointed as the managing director of The Kia Oval, one of England’s leading cricket grounds, while still retaining his existing commercial responsibilities with Surrey.

Under Hodgson’s leadership, The Kia Oval achieved sustained growth in T20 ticket sales and successfully delivered matches in the ICC World Cup and the Ashes. The club also bounced back from the Covid-19 pandemic with the return of crowds, completion of the new £30m Galadari Stand, and one of its best commercial years ever.

Hodgson has an MBA with distinction from Imperial College London and a Bachelor’s degree in Politics from Durham University.
