Nepal is set to take on a prominent role in Asian cricket administration when it hosts the ICC Asia Conference in November, bringing senior representatives from across the region to Kathmandu for discussions on cricket development and international cooperation.

The gathering will also provide an opportunity to showcase Nepal’s growing franchise cricket landscape, with visiting delegates scheduled to attend the closing stages of the third Nepal Premier League (NPL) season.

Organised by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in collaboration with the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), the conference will bring together officials from established Test-playing countries, Associate Member nations and the wider international cricket community.

ICC Asia Conference confirmed for Kathmandu

CAN confirmed the arrangements through an announcement on X, outlining its partnership with the ICC in staging the event.

“The International Cricket Council (ICC), in collaboration with the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), will host the ICC Asia Conference in Nepal from November 19–21, 2026.”

The conference is scheduled to run over three days, with CAN responsible for managing the event locally.

Its hosting represents an opportunity for Nepal to strengthen relationships with other cricket boards and participate more directly in regional discussions about the sport’s development.

Cricket Association of Nepal Secretary Paras Khadka said in a statement: “Hosting the conference will add a significant new dimension to the structural development of Nepali cricket and help expand the country’s international relations within the sport.”

Regional cricket development and cooperation on the agenda

The event will provide a forum for cricket administrators representing different levels of the international game to exchange perspectives on the challenges and opportunities facing Asian cricket.

“The conference will bring together representatives from Test-playing and Associate Member nations across Asia, along with delegates from the international cricket community, to discuss cricket development and strengthen regional cooperation,” CAN said.

For Nepal, participation in these discussions as the host nation offers an opportunity to develop closer institutional relationships within the ICC’s Asian membership.

The conference is also expected to support Nepal’s efforts to raise its profile in international cricket administration, alongside the country’s ambitions to attract visitors through major sporting events.

Nepal Premier League playoffs to feature in delegates’ visit

The conference will coincide with the concluding phase of the Siddharth Bank Nepal Premier League, creating an opportunity for visiting administrators to experience the country’s domestic franchise competition.

The third edition of the NPL is scheduled to begin on October 26, with the Eliminator and Final forming part of the programme for conference delegates.

“Delegates attending the conference will also witness the Eliminator and Final of the Siddharth Bank Nepal Premier League (SBL NPL III),” CAN added.

The NPL has recently received ICC recognition as a sanctioned tournament, providing additional context to the league’s inclusion in the delegates’ itinerary.

Their attendance will place the competition before senior cricket officials from across Asia, offering a platform to highlight Nepal’s franchise cricket operations and the local interest surrounding the tournament.

Conference offers Nepal a platform beyond the field

The arrival of international cricket officials, combined with the NPL’s final matches, is expected to contribute to Nepal’s efforts to develop sports tourism and strengthen its international sporting profile.

The event also brings together two aspects of Nepal’s cricket ambitions: building stronger relationships with regional governing bodies and developing domestic competitions that can attract wider attention.

With the ICC Asia Conference and NPL playoffs taking place during the same period, Nepal will have an opportunity to present both its cricket administration and its franchise league to influential figures from across the international game.
