Bio
Scott Weenink is senior cricket administrator from New Zealand, as well as a former first-class cricketer and representative rugby player.
Currently, Weenink is the Chair of the New Zealand Cricket Players’ Association (NZCPA). He was elected unanimously to the position during the Board Meeting on December 17, 2019, replacing Ross Verry. Weenink served on the NZCPA Board for two years prior to being appointed as the Chair.
Weenink has extensive board governance experience, including executive and board director roles with telecommunications and airport companies in New Zealand, Asia, and the Middle East. He is currently the Chair of Generate KiwiSaver Funds Management and Xceda Finance Limited (previously Asset Finance Limited), and he joined the Enables Fibre Broadband Board in December 2018 as a Non-Executive Director.
As a cricketer, Weenink played 12 First-Class and 7 List A matches, featuring for Cricket Wellington, Oxford University and Oxford Marylebone Cricket Club University.
Weenink is a qualified lawyer and started his career as a solicitor in private practice at Bell Gully. He has also worked at Auckland International Airport as General Counsel and has served Modica Group and Ooredoo Group in his professional career.
Weenink holds an LLB/BA from Victoria University of Wellington and completed a Masters in Law from the University of Oxford as a recipient of the Major Stanley Scholarship. He has also completed a Management and Executive Management Course from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
