LPL 2025 scheduled from November 27 to December 23 across Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has confirmed that the 6th edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) will be held from November 27 to December 23, 2025, positioning the tournament strategically ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.

The tournament will be hosted at three of Sri Lanka’s premier international cricket venues: RPICS (Colombo), PICS (Pallekele), and RDICS (Dambulla).

“The idea to conduct the LPL during this time frame is aimed at aligning the tournament with the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026,” said Mr. Samantha Dodanwela, Tournament Director of the Lanka Premier League.

LPL remains Sri Lanka’s top domestic T20 competition

Since its inaugural season in 2020, the Lanka Premier League has emerged as Sri Lanka’s flagship domestic T20 tournament, offering a high-performance platform for local talent and attracting international stars to its competitive setup.

The tournament has consistently featured top-tier domestic players alongside overseas professionals, playing a key role in boosting the country’s T20 pipeline and strengthening Sri Lanka’s presence on the global T20 circuit.

Strategic timing to boost player readiness ahead of global events

By aligning the 2025 edition with the T20 World Cup cycle, Sri Lanka Cricket aims to provide local players with valuable game-time and exposure ahead of international selections, while also maximizing the league’s global appeal.

Further announcements on team compositions, player auctions, and the official match schedule are expected in the coming months.
