Job Title: Women’s Assistant Coach – Batting Lead
Reporting to: Head of Women & Girls’ Cricket
Location: Glamorgan County Cricket Club, Sophia Gardens. Due to the nature of the role, the post holder will be required to travel to other locations when necessary.
Salary: Up to £35,000
Contract Type: Fixed term from 1st October 2026 – 31st October 2028

Job Summary
The Glamorgan women’s batting lead is responsible for leading the batting unit’s technical, tactical, and performance development across both T20 and 50 Over formats. The role focuses on improving batting standards, creating match-winning strategies, mentoring players, and delivering consistent high-performance outcomes within the professional cricket environment.
The Batting Lead works closely with coaching staff, analysts, strength & conditioning personnel, and leadership groups to build an elite batting culture, maximising individual and team performance.
The post holder will play an active role in maintaining a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for all players. This includes adhering to Glamorgan’s safeguarding policies and promoting safe working practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop a batting group who are effective at the Tier 1 level, which results in Glamorgan being in a position to win games.
- Develop batters who are capable of going on to represent England and participate in franchise tournaments around the world.
- Design and implement batting strategies across T20, One-Day, and multi-day formats.
- Support players in improving batting technique, decision-making, tactical awareness, and game understanding.
- Conduct individual player reviews and lead performance planning sessions.
- Assist the Head Coach with matchday operations and training preparation for both home and away fixtures.
- Contribute to selection discussions, ensuring alignment with the club’s long-term strategy and planning.
- Foster a high-performance growth environment where player development is central to every interaction.
- Liaise with players regarding schedules, logistics, and preparation planning.
- Work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary high-performance team.
- Provide detailed feedback and analysis on both Glamorgan and opposition players.
- Play a key role within Glamorgan’s professional coaching framework and wider performance culture.
- Work closely with the Head Coach and support staff to identify each player’s key development areas and implement individualised performance plans.
- Collaborate closely with sports science and medical staff on fitness, injury prevention, rehabilitation, conditioning, and performance analysis.
- Work in partnership with coaching and support staff to create an environment that empowers players to prepare and perform to the highest standards of professional cricket, both on and off the field.
- Ensuring all coaching activity is delivered in line with ECB Safe Hands, Glamorgan safeguarding policies, and best practice in supervision, boundaries, and professional conduct.
- Maintaining accurate and timely records of any safeguarding concerns and reporting them promptly to the Club Safeguarding Lead.
- Recognising additional risks in the elite environment, supporting the creation of a culture where players and colleagues feel safe to raise concerns, and modelling behaviours consistent with a position of trust.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience
- UKCC ECB Level 3 Coaching Qualification (or international equivalent)
- Have a passion for developing technically sound, high-performing batters who can take the women’s game to the next level
- Expert knowledge and understanding of the domestic women’s game
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience working within elite cricket
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of sports science and medicine disciplines
- Ability to motivate and influence professional cricketers, coaches and teams
- Exceptional planning, coordination and organisational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Strong disciplinary skills
- Good IT literacy including Microsoft Office and Cricket software packages
- Driver’s License
- ECBCA insurance
- DBS enhanced check
- Current safeguarding ECB course
- First Aid qualification (face-to-face training of at least 3 hours within the last 3 years)
- Strong awareness and understanding of positions of trust. Recognising additional risks within the elite sport environment and modelling professional boundaries.
- Commitment to ongoing safeguarding CPD and compliance with GCCC, ECB and/or Cricket Regulator safeguarding, welfare and wellbeing expectations.
- First Aid qualification
Desirable:
- ECB Level 4 Coaching Qualification
- Previous experience of working in women’s professional cricket environments
- Experience in leading a high-performance women’s cricket programme
- Self-contained operator with IT skills
