About Qatar Cricket Association

The Qatar Cricket Association (QCA) is the national governing body for cricket in the State of Qatar, responsible for the development, administration, and international representation of the sport at all levels. QCA oversees the Men’s and Women’s National Teams, age-group national squads, and the broader domestic cricket pathway, with a mandate to raise playing standards and grow participation across the country.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver bowling-specific training plans covering pace and spin bowlers across all formats relevant to the National Team’s calendar.
  • Conduct individual technical assessments of bowlers, identifying action efficiency, variation development, and injury-risk indicators in coordination with sports science staff.
  • Work with the Head Coach to develop bowling and field-setting strategies tailored to opposition batting line-ups and match conditions.
  • Use video analysis and ball-tracking data to review bowling performance and identify areas for technical and tactical refinement.
  • Plan and oversee bowling workload management in conjunction with strength and conditioning and medical staff to reduce injury risk across a touring calendar.
  • Support death-bowling, powerplay, and middle-overs strategy development specific to white-ball formats.
  • Provide written and verbal performance feedback to players and the Head Coach following training blocks, camps, and matches.
  • Contribute to talent identification and assessment of bowling prospects from domestic cricket for potential national team selection.
  • Support the mentoring of domestic and age-group bowling coaches as part of QCA’s broader coach development pathway.
  • Represent QCA’s coaching standards and code of conduct during tours, camps, and ICC-sanctioned events.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum ICC Level 3 (or equivalent) or specialist bowling coaching certification preferred.
  • Significant prior playing experience as a bowler at first-class, List A, or international level is strongly preferred.
  • At least 3 years of coaching experience in a specialist bowling or all-round coaching role with a representative or franchise team.
  • Sound understanding of biomechanics and bowling action analysis, with the ability to work alongside sports science staff on injury prevention.
  • Demonstrated experience using video analysis software and ball-tracking data to inform coaching decisions.
  • Valid First Aid / Basic Life Support certification, or willingness to obtain prior to appointment.

Skills & Attributes

  • Strong technical expertise across pace and spin bowling disciplines, including variations and format-specific tactics.
  • Ability to balance performance demands with player workload and long-term injury prevention.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to translate data and video insight into clear, actionable coaching points.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to adapt coaching style to individual player personalities and learning preferences.
  • Willingness to travel internationally for tours, training camps, and competitions, including extended periods away from home.
