Indian cricketer Vipraj Nigam, who has been called into India’s Asian Games squad, is facing a sexual assault allegation from a Hyderabad-based woman who visited his home on Sunday seeking to meet him while he was away with the national team in Japan, according to a report by Jagran journalist Abhishek Tripathi.
The woman spent around two to three hours in her car outside Nigam’s residence in Avas Colony. Nigam’s mother was at the house at the time, while his father later spoke to the woman over the phone. According to the woman, Nigam’s father told her that a conversation could take place after a week, following which she left.

Separate police cases involving Nigam and the woman
The visit comes months after Nigam and the woman lodged separate police cases involving allegations against each other.
Nigam filed a case at Barabanki Kotwali on November 8, 2025, accusing the woman of contacting him through different mobile numbers and threatening to falsely implicate him in a case.
The woman subsequently filed a case against Nigam at the Expressway Police Station in Gautam Buddh Nagar. She alleged that she first came into contact with him through social media in May 2025 and accused the cricketer of developing a relationship with her after promising marriage.
Her complaint alleges that Nigam took her to a hotel in Sector 135, Noida, on July 29, 2025, where she accused him of rape and assault. The case was registered on December 16, 2025.
The woman said her visit to Nigam’s residence was intended solely to speak with him and that she did not want a dispute over the matter.
Asian Games opportunity follows India A selection
Nigam’s legal situation has returned to attention as the 22-year-old receives a major opportunity at international level. The BCCI added the Uttar Pradesh spinner to India’s Asian Games squad following an injury to Varun Chakravarthy.
The selection came alongside another opportunity for Nigam, who was picked for the India A squad for a home one-day series against Australia A. He had previously travelled to Sri Lanka with India A and has also bowled in the nets for India’s senior team.
Speaking to Times of India after receiving the Asian Games call-up, Nigam said: “I’m currently at a two-day camp at the NCA, and only today I found out that I’ve received a call-up for the Asian Games. It feels great. I had a feeling that my name might come up for a series at some point, but I never expected the opportunity to come this quickly.”
Nigam in line for India debut
Nigam bowls spin and bats in the lower-middle order. He has played six First-Class matches for Uttar Pradesh, while his Delhi Capitals career has comprised 19 matches and 13 wickets at an average of 36.07.
His Asian Games selection could now be preceded by a senior international debut, with Nigam in line to represent India against Japan in the historic one-off T20I on Tuesday.
