Dhaka, Bangladesh – The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is set to host the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Annual General Meeting on July 24, with board president Aminul Islam confirming that preparations are proceeding as planned — even as questions remain around India’s in-person participation.
According to multiple reports, speculation had surfaced that the meeting could be moved to Dubai due to the political climate in Bangladesh and hesitation from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) about attending. But Aminul has strongly pushed back on those claims.
“Everything is going according to plan” — BCB president
Speaking to reporters in Dhaka on Monday, Aminul emphasized the significance of the event for Bangladesh and expressed confidence that all ACC members would attend:
“The Asian Cricket Council is the mother body or governing body of cricket in Asia, and previously we have never hosted a major meeting of the Asian Cricket Council.”
“We will hold an official dinner on the 23rd and the ACC AGM in Dhaka on the 24th (July) in Dhaka where almost every country will participate.”
“This is a big achievement for us, and till now everything is going according to plan (as far as hosting the ACC meeting concerned), and you will receive further updates in due course.”
The AGM — the first of its kind hosted by Bangladesh — comes at a crucial moment for Asian cricket governance, with several high-stakes decisions on the agenda.

While September 10 has been floated as a tentative start date, the exact schedule and format — potentially involving a hybrid model — will likely be determined during the meeting.
The ACC has already notified boards of the discussions, and pressure is mounting on the BCCI to formally engage with the process, regardless of attendance format.
