Big Bash cricket’s return to Launceston has started with a bang, with fans jumping abord the Cane Train and snapping up tickets to the Hurricanes’ clash against the Adelaide Strikers.
More than 1400 tickets for the January 9 showdown at UTAS Stadium were sold in the opening week of public sales – the biggest opening week for a Hurricanes match on record.
The strong early demand also has the northern fixture currently sitting as the sixth highest selling match for the entire KFC BBL|16 season to date.
Adding to the anticipation with be the presence of England Ashes star and marquee Strikers’ recruit Ben Stokes, who is set to be among the headline attractions when the two sides meet.
The match marks the return of Big Bash cricket to Launceston for the first time since the 2023-24 season.
With the Cane Train filling up, fans are encouraged to secure their seats early and be part of the return of BBL action in the north of the state.
