Blue God Entertainment has acquired Legends League Cricket in a deal valued at INR 49 crore (approx. US$ 5 million), according to multiple reports, marking a structural shift in the ownership of the retired-player T20 property.
The transaction brings the league under a listed Indian entity, a move that aligns cricket’s commercial ecosystem more closely with public markets and institutional investment frameworks.
Commercial control and long-term rights framework
Under the agreement, Blue God Entertainment assumes long-term commercial rights covering media monetisation, sponsorship sales, franchise development and global content distribution. The acquisition effectively transfers operational commercial control while positioning the league for scalable expansion within a broader sports and entertainment portfolio.
For Absolute Legends Sports Pvt Ltd, the league’s promoter, the transaction unlocks capital while enabling a leaner operational approach focused on brand stewardship rather than asset-heavy management.
Vivek Khushalani, Chairman of Absolute Legends Sports Pvt Ltd, said in a statement that “Legends League Cricket has been built as a scalable global sports property with strong commercial fundamentals and growing fan engagement. This partnership represents the next phase of its evolution, bringing institutional capital, long-term growth visibility, and enhanced global expansion opportunities for the league. The agreement enables ALSPL to pursue an asset-light, scalable growth strategy while retaining long-term brand leadership of the league.”
The valuation places the league firmly within India’s mid-tier sports property segment, reflecting both its commercial traction and its positioning outside the primary international cricket calendar.
Strategic vision behind the acquisition
Blue God Entertainment’s move signals a broader ambition to build a diversified sports and entertainment ecosystem supported by recurring revenue streams. By acquiring a property built around former international cricketers, the company gains access to established fan bases, broadcast relationships and cross-border content opportunities.
Nitin Khanna, Spokesperson for Blue God Entertainment Ltd, said in a statement, “Legends League Cricket offers a powerful growth platform with significant commercial potential. This acquisition strengthens our long-term vision of building a leading sports and entertainment ecosystem.”
Raman Raheja, Co-Founder of Legends League Cricket, said in a statement that the transaction represents a “defining moment for global sports business. By integrating a premier cricket property with public markets, we are creating a new framework for how sports intellectual properties are valued, monetised, and scaled.”
Legends League Cricket has operated in a franchise-style format, staging matches across Indian venues while securing television and digital partnerships aimed at both domestic and international audiences. The model leverages nostalgia-driven engagement while maintaining structured commercial scalability.
With formal commercial control now shifting to Blue God Entertainment, further announcements regarding franchise expansion, sponsorship alignment and global distribution strategies are expected as the league transitions into its next growth phase under the new ownership model.
