While not quite American rapper Eminem, aka ‘Shady’, a host of Betway SA20 stars will return for Season 4 after missing the last edition.
JOS BUTTLER (Paarl Royals to Durban’s Super Giants)
The former England white-ball captain enjoyed two stellar seasons at the Paarl Royals. Buttler topped the competition’s run-scoring charts in the inaugural season with 391 runs, before improving on his run tally the next season by passing the 400-run mark. He loved his time in the picturesque winelands, but he unfortunately could not return for Season 3 due to international commitments. Buttler will now trade in the Drakenstein mountains for the East Coast at Durban’s Super Giants.
REECE TOPLEY (Durban’s Super Giants to Joburg Super Kings)
The England left-arm seamer was a consistent performer for Durban’s Super Giants across two seasons, claiming 23 wickets at an average of 23.21 in 20 matches. Topley could also not return for Season 3 due to England commitments, but will now continue his Betway SA20 journey with Joburg Super Kings at the Wanderers.
DAN WORRALL (Sunrisers Eastern Cape to Joburg Super Kings)
The experienced Australia-born English seamer enjoyed a breakout Betway SA20 campaign with the Sunrisers Eastern Cape in Season 2 after replacing fellow Englishman Brydon Carse. Worrall played a prominent role in the inaugural champions retaining their title, claiming 17 wickets in the competition. He was particularly good with the new ball, and formed a potent pace attack with Marco Jansen and Ottneil Baartman. But he too will play out of the Wanderers next season after being signed by Joburg Super King at the Season 4 Player Auction.
NICHOLAS POORAN (Durban’s Super Giants to MI Cape Town)
Arguably the most dynamic T20 batter in the world, the Caribbean superstar had a brief taste of Betway SA20 with DSG in Season 2. Despite playing just three matches, it was enough time for Pooran to leave his mark with an electrifying 31-ball unbeaten 60 (5×4, 4×6) against Sunrisers Eastern Cape at St George’s Park. He is now back, but playing for his beloved MI franchise, having previously led both MI New York and MI Emirates to success in the MLC and ILT20 respectively. He will want nothing more to complete the three-peat with MI Cape Town and will no doubt treat the Newlands faithful to a batting bonanza in Season 4.
JACQUES SNYMAN (Pretoria Capitals to MI Cape Town)
The once-capped Proteas T20 international will be hoping for a Betway SA20 debut after moving from Pretoria Capitals to MI Cape Town in Season 4. A hard-hitting opener, Snyman could be utilised by coach Robin Peterson in the highveld encounters.
JUNAID DAWOOD (Sunrisers Eastern Cape to Pretoria Capitals)
The Cape Town-born leg-spinner was part of the maiden Sunrisers Eastern Cape title-winning squad. Unfortunately, he was not afforded any game time and was released and has not been back to Betway S20 until now, having been signed up by the Pretoria Capitals. The 29-year-old is maturing into his craft, as his worthy performances in the CSA T20 Challenge for the Lions showed.
LEWIS GREGORY (Joburg Super Kings to Sunrisers Eastern Cape)
A vastly-experienced T20 campaigner that has played in the BBL, BPL, PSL, The Hundred, ILT20, CLT20 and Betway SA20 before. The 33-year-old did not make the desired impact in his three matches for JSK in the first season, but Sunrisers Eastern Cape coach Adi Birrell has shown that he is able to get the best out of many a previously unheralded English county professional.
