With 100 days to go until the first ball of Betway SA20 Season 4 is bowled on 26 December 2025, the League has officially launched its latest fan engagement campaign — the ’20th Player’ — bringing local personalities into the spotlight to connect fans with their favourite teams like never before.

After completing their 19-player squads during last week’s exciting SA20 player auction, all six franchises are shifting gears to focus on the fans. The ’20th Player’ campaign puts a popular South African content creator or celebrity at the heart of each city’s cricket fandom — tasked with amplifying the hype, igniting local rivalries, and bringing the energy of the stands online.

Meet the SA20 Season 4 ’20th Players’

Each franchise city has its own unique ’20th Player’ — a local media personality with a strong digital presence and a flair for fun. These six influencers will represent their regions throughout the tournament:

  • Durban – Schalk Bezuidenhout: The energetic comedian and author brings humour and good vibes to Ethekwini.
  • Johannesburg – Moshe Ndiki: Actor, comedian, and presenter bringing dynamic flair to the Highveld.
  • Cape Town – Nadia Jaftha: TikTok sensation and fashionista leading the gees for the Capetonians.
  • Paarl – Vafa Naraghi: Entertainer known for comedic charm, bringing personality to the Boland region.
  • Pretoria – Leandie du Randt: Actress and content creator sparking fan culture across the Jukskei.
  • Gqeberha – Anele Mdoda: Radio star and media icon representing the passionate Eastern Cape fan base.

Betway SA20 builds momentum as festive season cricket event

Graeme Smith, Betway SA20 League Commissioner, believes this is the perfect way to kickstart the festive season countdown:

“The Betway SA20 Auction is where the season starts, but the 100-day countdown is where the fans join the journey,” Smith said. “Through the 20th Player drive, we’re putting our fans at the heart of the action.”

Fans can expect behind-the-scenes content, giveaways, contests, and exclusive matchday access through the 20th Player channels. Their goal is simple: represent the fans and keep the gees going across all 34 matches of the SA20 calendar.

Schalk Bezuidenhout on joining Team Durban

“I didn’t know a lot about cricket before SA20, but my learning curve is already steep after attending the Auction,” said Bezuidenhout. “I’m completely sold now — and Durban will be the place to be this summer!”

Anele Mdoda shares the excitement

“There is so much about SA20 that hooks you in,” Mdoda said. “The player auction had me doing my own research. I simply cannot wait for the matches to start.”

Nadia Jaftha promises all-round gees in Cape Town

“The electric atmosphere in the stadiums, the excitement of being there, the energy — I can’t wait to be part of it,” said Jaftha.

SA20 Season 4 kicks off with MI Cape Town vs Durban’s Super Giants

SA20 Season 4 officially begins on 26 December 2025 with a marquee opening clash between defending champions MI Cape Town and Durban’s Super Giants at Newlands.

Tickets go on sale 10 October 2025 and will be available at all six stadium ticket offices and on ticketpro.co.za.

“In our new festive season timeslot, there will be something for everyone this season,” said Smith. “We will make sure fans are at the heart of the quality entertainment on and off the field this summer.”

With 100 days to go, the countdown is officially on — and inter-city cricket rivalries are heating up.
