Lions Cricket aims to foster a deep passion for cricket by advancing the sport through high-quality teams, nurturing club and school cricket, and providing a premier stadium experience. The organization also seeks to use cricket to drive inclusive and sustainable economic, social, and environmental change.

The Central Gauteng Lions (CGL) are delighted to announce their most recent partner: Makro. The exciting new partnership will see CGL earn rewards on expenditure linked to the CGL Makro profile.

Central Gauteng Lions CEO Jono Leaf-Wright welcomes Makro to the Lions cricketing family; “The initiative is run along the same concept as other loyalty programmes. With this exciting new Makro partnership our cricketing community will earn rewards for CGL based on their expenditure with Makro. The rebates earned back from this loyalty system will go a long way to furthering the development of the game and for that we are both excited and appreciative. Makro are the big hitters – and to have them on our team is both valued and valuable to our entire Lions cricket eco-system.”

“Sport and recreation have an important role to play in the quality of life of communities across South Africa. We are truly excited about this partnership and look forward to driving value for members of the Central Gauteng Lions (CGL) and our customers.” Senior Vice President of Massmart Wholesale Doug Jones.

It’s all systems go, all you need to do is email your individual Makro card number to CGLHR@cricket.co.za to be linked to the CGL account with Makro.

Rewards will be accumulated on a bi-annual basis and utilised towards our cricket community in the form of cricket facility maintenance, infrastructure development, training, equipment, bursaries and mentoring of aspiring cricketers who will fly the Lions and South African flag high.

CGL continually aspires to grow the game of cricket across all communities, gender, race, income groups and previously disadvantaged communities including blind and deaf cricket.
