The Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League has formed a partnership with Sportsnection, a leading cricket trading card company, to create a limited edition, full set of trading cards for the 2026 CPL season.
The set features all 119 CPL players from all seven (7) CPL Teams including:
- Antigua & Barbuda Falcons
- Barbados Tridents (formerly Barbados Royals)
- Guyana Amazon Warriors
- Jamaica Kingsmen
- St Kitts & Nevis Patriots
- Saint Lucia Kings
- Trinbago Knight Riders
The entire set includes 124 different cards, with the five additional cards featuring:
- Four (4) WCPL players, representing one from each of the women’s teams
- One (1) Checklist card that will allow interested trading card collectors to see which players they have collected and which ones they still might be missing within the total set.
In addition, about 1 of every 7 cards in total includes a holographic layer on the front and back of the cards, making those cards more desirable to collectors, due to their scarcity.
The Sportsnection created trading cards will be available for sale at CPL stadiums and online at both the CPL website and on sportsnection.com. Six (6) cards come in each pack and a box includes six (6) packs for a total of thirty-six randomized cards per box.
In addition, the CPL will be hosting a trading card giveaway night during the Knockouts & Finals rounds in Barbados at the Kensington Oval. Each child under the age of 12 will receive one 6-card pack, while supplies last.
The CPL initiated this partnership to engage younger fans with CPL teams and their players. “We have seen how other sports leagues utilize sports trading cards to engage with the younger audience, and we wanted to test it with our CPL fan base in the same way. We are very excited about the potential of these trading cards for this season and in the future, and appreciate Sportsnection’s partnership with us,” stated Francois Vainker, Head of Media Partnerships and Business Development with the CPL.
“We see this partnership with the CPL as one more step to accomplish our mission of creating the connection between athletes and their fandom,” said Omar Khokhar, Founder of Sportsnection.
“Cricket is the second most popular sport in the world, and our goal is to help cricket leagues and teams better engage with their fan base. Cricket fans are craving additional engagement with their favorite teams and players that sports leagues around the world have been enjoying for years through collecting, trading, owning, buying and selling trading cards of their favorite players,” said Edward Gold, CEO, Sportsnection.
“We’ve seen the clamor for our Sportsnection All-Stars of Cricket series of cards, featuring the heroes and greats of the game, and now we are bringing that excitement to cricket leagues and teams around the world.” stated Dr. Khokhar.
