Cricket Australia (CA) and Westpac have today launched Her Game Grows, an initiative designed to inspire more women and girls to play, lead and connect through cricket.
Launched during Australian Cricket’s Women and Girls Week, Her Games Grows is a collaboration between CA and Westpac designed to create more inclusive and welcoming environments across all levels of the game.
Her Games Grows will support the growth of women’s participation as players, coaches, umpires and volunteers through targeted funding, and enable the delivery of leadership pathways such as Project Inspire.
The launch comes as Australia’s world-conquering women’s team continues its campaign to defend the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup title in India.
James Allsopp, Cricket Australia Chief of Cricket said:
“Cricket has proudly led the way in gender equity in sport, and Her Game Grows is the next step in our commitment to ensuring every woman and girl feels cricket is a game for them.
“This initiative brings our Women and Girls Action Plan to life, with targeted investment that will grow participation, strengthen pathways, and create more inclusive environments across the country.
“We’re incredibly grateful to Westpac for their support and partnership in helping us grow the game for women and girls.”
Michelle Klein, Westpac Chief Growth, Brand and Marketing Officer said:
“Through our partnership with Cricket Australia, we’re excited to play an important role in shaping how Cricket will look for women and girls for years to come.
“This partnership is about elite sport and the grassroots game. Of course we love seeing the big red W on the front of the Women’s national team playing shirts, but we’re equally proud to know our support of the Her Game Grows program contributes to the growth of the women’s game in communities across Australia.”
