The South Australian Cricket Association (SACA) will officially launch its Women in Cricket Network at a special event during Saturday’s WBBL|12 season opener, as part of Women and Girls Week.
The Women in Cricket Network is a new initiative established in 2026 through funding from Cricket Australia’s Her Game Grows Fund.
The network has been created to connect, support and empower female volunteers in cricket, providing a community where women can build meaningful relationships, share knowledge, develop skills, access opportunities and have a voice in shaping the future of community cricket.
Open to female volunteers across all levels of the game, the initiative aims to strengthen connections within the cricket community while encouraging personal and professional development, leadership and ongoing involvement in the sport.
In its inaugural season, the network will feature three marquee events throughout the summer, with Saturday’s launch event marking the first opportunity for members to come together.
The official launch will coincide with the Adelaide Strikers’ WBBL|12 season opener on 31 October at Karen Rolton Oval.
The special function will be facilitated by Adelaide Crows AFLW premiership captain Chelsea Randall, a respected leader who will help foster connections and create a strong, supportive network of women involved in cricket across South Australia.
Interest in the initiative has already been strong, with 70 women registering to be part of the network and 30 set to attend Saturday’s launch event. The network will remain open throughout the season for any female volunteers who would like to get involved.
The launch reflects SACA’s ongoing commitment to creating an inclusive cricket environment and recognising the important role women play in supporting and shaping the future of the game.
