BACKGROUND
Cricket Ireland is the governing body for the men’s and women’s game throughout Ireland, with
ultimate responsibility for its national and international aspects. The future of Irish cricket is very
bright given the growth of the sport driven by significant success on the international stage in the last
twenty years, leading to an unprecedented visibility for Irish cricket at home and abroad.
Our emergence as a sport of national significance is growing following the elevation of Cricket Ireland
to ICC Full Membership and Test Status, along with entry into the sport’s Future Tours Programme
(FTP) that now sees Ireland playing all three formats of the game at the highest level for the
foreseeable future.
Cricket Ireland’s current Strategic Plan for 2024-2027 is the second half of a two-stage approach
designed to synchronise with the current ICC funding cycle. The plan’s vision centres on cricket
becoming a major sport in Ireland and a major nation in cricket.
THE ROLE
Cricket Ireland is seeking a full-time Women’s National Head Coach, initially on a three-year
fixed-term contract. With a new cycle of the ICC Women’s Championship due to begin in the next
twelve months, T20I World Cup’s in 2026 and 2028 plus an opportunity to qualify and compete in
the 2028 Olympic Games, there will be many great opportunities to build on the team’s successes
in the last year.
Cricket Ireland HQ is in North Dublin but similar to commensurate roles in the cricket world, the
role demands a national brief across both sides of the border as well as significant time travelling
overseas. Indoor facilities are strategically located to provide centrally contracted players with a
‘local’ training facility in the winter and the High Performance Centre in Dublin provides a World
Class outdoor training base in the summer.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Be responsible for developing a world-class Ireland cricket team which delivers sustained success in all conditions and formats, inspiring current and future generations of cricketers and supporters with their approach to the game.
Report into the Director of High Performance and have responsibility for the performance and management of the Ireland Women’s teams.
Lead and line-manage a team of coaches currently comprising two full-time Assistant Coaches (with additional support from designated HP Coaches).
Manage a multidisciplinary team comprising lead physiotherapist; lead strength and conditioning coach; performance analyst; sports psychologist (p/t), nutritionist (p/t), team operations manager and international team operations manager.
Champion Cricket Ireland’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion practices.
Be a member of the National Selection Panel.
Attend High Performance Committee meetings.

Track players progress and manage workloads using the Athlete Management System.
Demonstrate an innovative approach and a commitment to being at the cutting edge of the latest developments in cricket and elite coaching.
Foster strong working relationships across key personnel within Cricket Ireland ensuring Irish cricket becomes synonymous with world’s best practice.
Develop effective working relationships with the Super Series Head Coaches, providing guidance and support ensuring Senior Team game plans, KPI’s and player roles are shared and integrated in domestic cricket.
Work with the Director of High Performance to develop and implement an elite coach development programme to grow the capacity of Ireland-based HP coaches.
Forge relationships with competitor nations and key stakeholders aimed at building partnerships that can be leveraged in the future.
