CSA Annual General Meeting highlights 2024/2025 growth and stability
JOHANNESBURG: Cricket South Africa (CSA) held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Saturday in Johannesburg, reporting strong organisational growth, financial health, and on-field success for the fiscal year 01 May 2024 – 30 April 2025.
Financial success: R238 million net profit driven by ICC events and new sponsorships
CSA announced a net profit of R238 million, underpinned by broadcast revenues, ICC distributions, sponsorship income, and investment returns. The financial boost was largely supported by a packed international tour calendar and the signing of seven new partners and official suppliers, reflecting growing commercial confidence in the Proteas brand.
On-field performance and national pride
South Africa’s Men’s, Women’s, and U19 teams delivered notable performances across ICC events, with the Proteas Men finishing top of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) rankings and qualifying for the WTC Final 2025. The women’s game also progressed with the appointment of a permanent head coach, marking a key step in professionalisation.
Development impact and youth engagement
- 70 cricket development hubs operated across nine provinces, reaching 457 players.
- CSA partnered with the National Youth Service Programme (NYSP) to provide opportunities to over 3,000 young South Africans.
- 791 coaching certifications were issued, from Level 1 to Level 4, across grassroots to high-performance coaching.
Broadcast reach and brand expansion
CSA’s broadcast footprint reached 1 billion viewers in 100 territories, generating R707 million in broadcast revenue. The Net Promoter Score (NPS) also increased from 5.9 to 6.65, signaling improved stakeholder satisfaction and fan engagement.
Infrastructure investments ahead of ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027
Infrastructure upgrades were initiated across key affiliates, including the transformation of Boland Park into a mixed-use estate and the ongoing redevelopment of Newlands Cricket Ground. Preparations for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027 have already commenced, with CSA positioning the event as a legacy-building moment for South African cricket.
Leadership remarks: Governance, sustainability, and future focus
CSA Chairperson Pearl Maphoshe highlighted the year as a “period of renewal and momentum gain,” citing the resurgence of the men’s team and continued excellence in the women’s game. Maphoshe emphasized that good governance is central to CSA’s credibility and long-term sustainability, especially as South Africa prepares to host the 2027 World Cup.
CSA President Rihan Richards praised the organization’s delivery against objectives: “We did more than plan, we delivered.” He thanked CSA staff, affiliates, and partners including the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture and SASCOC for their continued support.
