Cricket West Indies (CWI) has issued an official statement in response to the escalating geopolitical situation between India and Pakistan, confirming it is actively monitoring developments and prioritizing the safety of West Indies players participating in the IPL and PSL.
In light of recent military actions in the region, CWI has established direct communication with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), and West Indies players currently engaged in the Indian Premier League and Pakistan Super League.
Player safety and security remains top priority
To further coordinate and support player welfare, CWI has activated its strategic partnership with the West Indies Players’ Association (WIPA). The joint focus is to ensure the safety, security, and well-being of all West Indies cricketers and support personnel currently in South Asia.
“The welfare of our people remains our highest priority,” CWI emphasized in its official statement.
CWI continues to receive ongoing updates through diplomatic, governmental, and cricketing channels, and stands ready to provide assistance and intervention where needed.
CWI expresses commitment to international cricket cooperation
Despite the geopolitical uncertainty, CWI reaffirmed its commitment to the spirit of international cricket and emphasized solidarity with both BCCI and PCB during this sensitive period. The organization praised the professionalism of all parties involved and noted its role in ensuring that West Indies players are not exposed to unnecessary risk.
This is a developing situation, and CWI has pledged to remain proactive and transparent as new information emerges.
