Delhi Capitals (DC) have named Sediqullah Atal of Afghanistan as a replacement for England batter Harry Brook for the remainder of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season.

Brook, who was part of the Delhi Capitals setup, has opted out of IPL 2025 due to personal reasons. In his place, DC have secured the services of Atal, a promising left-handed batter, for his base price of INR 1.25 Crore.

Sediqullah Atal brings international experience to DC

Atal has made a name for himself in Afghanistan’s domestic and international setup. He has accumulated 1507 T20 runs in 49 matches and made his T20I debut in 2023. Known for his aggressive stroke play and adaptability, Atal has also represented Afghanistan in Tests, ODIs, and T20Is, showcasing his all-format versatility.

This will be his first stint in the IPL, and joining the Delhi Capitals provides him with a platform to test his skills in one of the most competitive T20 environments in world cricket.

Brook withdraws as DC adjusts squad plans

Harry Brook’s absence is a significant loss for the franchise. The English batter was expected to bolster DC’s middle order with his explosive style. However, the team will now look to integrate Atal into their plans as the tournament progresses.

Delhi Capitals are currently navigating a competitive IPL 2025 season and will hope that Atal’s arrival provides an additional boost as they aim for playoff qualification.
