Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) coach Dinesh Karthik has voiced his concerns about the pitch conditions at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium following a difficult start to the season for his team. Despite requesting better pitches for their home games, the team has faced challenging conditions that have made batting difficult.
In a post-match press conference, Karthik explained the situation, revealing that RCB had specifically asked for pitches that would offer good batting conditions. However, the reality has been quite different. “In the first two games, we have asked for good pitches. But it’s turned out in this way where it’s been challenging to bat on. So, we try to do the best with whatever we get,” Karthik said.
Despite the difficult conditions, Karthik emphasized that the team would continue to adapt to the challenges presented by the pitch. “But we will have a chat with him (the curator). We trust him to do his job. So, this isn’t a pitch that’s helping the batters too much. It’s a challenging pitch. So that has been the case so far in both the games that we have played,” he added.
The coach’s comments shed light on the challenges that teams face when the pitch doesn’t meet expectations, making it harder for players to perform to their potential. With Karthik and the team trusting the curator’s expertise, the hope remains that future matches will see improvements in pitch conditions, better suited for balanced cricket. However, for now, the team is determined to make the most of what they are given.
