England Men’s Mixed Disability team is set to take on India in a groundbreaking seven-match IT20 series that will tour several prestigious first-class venues, including the iconic Lord’s.
In late June, India will travel to England to compete in the inaugural Vitality IT20 Mixed Disability series – the first international tournament of its kind. This event will feature teams competing in Physical Disability, Learning Disability, and Hearing Impaired formats, mirroring the structure of England’s domestic Disability Premier League.
Reflecting on the excitement surrounding the tour, ECB Head of Disability Cricket, Ian Martin, remarked, “It’s every cricketer’s dream to play at Lord’s and playing at HQ will make this series even more special…It’s already new and exciting, but to know we’ll be at Lord’s and to know as well that we’ll be at so many other fantastic venues makes it feel even more real. We can’t wait for it to start now.” He added, “We always say with Disability Cricket, you only need to see it to immediately understand how good the cricket is and how entertaining it is. We haven’t played mixed disability cricket at international level before but we know from the DPL that this format brings together the best of the best, and I just can’t wait for people to see it and be blown away.”
The much-anticipated fixture at Lord’s is scheduled for Wednesday, June 25, coinciding with MCC’s Disability Cricket Day and will mark the third match of the series. Additional fixtures will take place at Taunton, Wormsley, Worcester, and Bristol.
Bristol is set to host two IT20 matches, with the opening game on July 1 forming a double-header alongside the England Women vs India Women encounter, which will be broadcast live on Sky Sports. Moreover, all seven matches of the series will be live-streamed on ECB’s digital channels, ensuring fans can follow every moment of the action.
