Cricket Victoria (CV) is one of Victoria’s leading sporting organisations and is the governing body for the game of cricket in Victoria. From grassroots cricket to the elite teams – the Victorian Men’s Cricket Team, Victorian Women’s Cricket Team, Melbourne Renegades and Melbourne Stars, Cricket Victoria nurtures and promotes the development and success of the sport for all Victorians.

Based in CV’s Head Office in St Kilda, and reporting to Chief Executive Officer (CEO) this position will play a key role within CV by providing operational and strategic support across the Melbourne Renegades business model.

The General Manager Melbourne Renegades will be a key driver in further developing the Melbourne Renegades to lead the competition in terms of viewership, attendance, membership and commercial support.  Critical to this role will be your demonstrated ability to maximise performance in all aspects of the club, on and off the field.

About the role:

  • Provide strategic direction and day to day leadership for the Melbourne Renegades
  •  Motivate, lead and inspire the full time and seasonal staff of Melbourne Renegades to achieve success
  • Lead the club positively in all operational aspects to deliver optimal outcomes
  • This will include building strong collaborative alliances across the business to maximise and consolidate performance:
  • Strong liaison with Head of Consumer Business to develop annual W/BBL Business Plans that are aligned to these long-term strategies and deliver targeted outcomes.
  • Collaborate with Head of Marketing & Fan Engagement, develop annual W/BBL Business Plans that are aligned to these long-term strategies and deliver targeted outcomes.
  • Manage key stakeholders including broadcasters, venue owners and commercial partners to ensure alignment of strategic direction and core objectives.
  • Liaise with and support W/BBL Players, Coaches and Support Staff
  • Develop the capability, systems and processes to ensure operational excellence and compliance with Team Performance Agreement (TPA) obligations.
  • Ensure clear systems, processes and personnel are in place to operate within the parameters of the Rules, Regulations and Guidelines of the W/BBL Leagues

About You

  • Demonstrated experience in a major sporting or entertainment environment that has grown commercial returns to the business (Strong commercial leadership background in a similar role)
  • Capable of delivering an end-to-end solution for current and prospective partners
  • Creative strategic thinker who can deliver ideas for partners and the business
  • Professional individual who is a “self-starter” and highly motivated, whilst being an excellent team player within a small agile workforce
  • Excellent written, verbal and analytical skills
  • Possesses a passion for sport and can articulate and deliver on new ways to achieve agreed outcomes
  • Marketing/Business or related degree
  • A valid Victorian Employee Working with Children Check (WWCC) or an ability to obtain
  • A current Motor Vehicle Licence
