Brook tops PCA MVP Rankings after standout summer with bat and in the field
Harry Brook has been named the 2025 Rothesay Men’s Test Player of the Summer after finishing top of the PCA MVP Rankings, capping off a sensational campaign for the Yorkshireman in England’s red-ball setup.
Batting at number five, Brook scored 539 runs at an average of 53.9 across a summer that included an innings win over Zimbabwe and a dramatic 2-2 series draw with India. His stellar form earned him 143.01 MVP points — more than any other player — and saw him add this accolade to his 2024 Metro Bank ODI Men’s Player of the Summer award.
Brook ended teammate Joe Root’s two-year hold on the award, continuing his rise as one of the pillars of England’s Test side. His contributions also included a remarkable 15 catches — the most by any outfielder — highlighted by a stunning one-handed effort against Zimbabwe to dismiss Wesley Madhevere.
Summer of highlights for Brook
Brook’s campaign featured two centuries, including a dazzling 111 off 98 balls at The Kia Oval in the final Test against India — a match England lost by just six runs after a record chase fell just short.
He also struck a masterful 158 off 234 balls in the second Test against India, and narrowly missed a third ton with 99 at Headingley in the series opener.

Brook was presented with his trophy — crafted by Mappin & Webb — at The Kia Oval following the conclusion of the fifth Test against India.
“We thought we had the game in the bag when Rooty and I were batting and we thought if we could get a couple of big overs in then the game would be done,” Brook said.
“My thought process was hit as many runs as quickly as possible and finish the game, it didn’t quite work this time… I’m just happy to contribute to as many games as possible. It’s been an intense series… a great advert for Test cricket.”
Stokes and Duckett round out top three
England captain Ben Stokes finished second with 139.07 MVP points, scoring 313 runs and taking 20 wickets at 24.05. His best performance came in the fourth Test at Old Trafford, where he scored 141 and took 5-72 — his first five-wicket haul since 2017.
Ben Duckett placed third with 138.67 points after a prolific summer with 602 runs at 60.2. The left-hander’s series was highlighted by 62 and 149 in the first Test against India, earning him a Match MVP award.
Duckett now leads the England Men’s Overall MVP Rankings with 220.56 points, followed closely by Brook.
What’s next: The Ashes returns this November
The England Men’s Test squad will next be in action on 21 November, facing Australia in the first Ashes Test at Optus Stadium in Perth. England will look to reclaim the urn for the first time since 2015 after a run of recent Ashes disappointments.
