Hasan Ali continues to dominate the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL), becoming the all-time leading wicket-taker in tournament history while currently topping the bowling charts for Karachi Kings in HBL PSL X.
The 29-year-old fast bowler, now representing his third PSL franchise, has taken 13 wickets in six matches at an average of 14.85 this season. He recently surpassed Wahab Riaz’s record of 113 wickets, reaching a total of 121 wickets in 88 PSL matches at an average of 22.09.
From Emerging Player to PSL legend
Hasan made his PSL debut in 2016 for Peshawar Zalmi and has since represented Islamabad United and now Karachi Kings. His historic moment came on 18 April at the National Bank Stadium when he dismissed Hasan Nawaz of Quetta Gladiators to overtake Wahab.
He also holds the record for the most overs bowled in PSL history with 332.1 overs, underscoring his consistency and fitness over a decade of league cricket.
Comeback from injury, dominance in domestic cricket
Before the 2025 PSL season, Hasan returned to cricket via the National T20 Cup, representing Sialkot Region after a nine-month injury layoff due to an elbow issue. He made an immediate impact, taking 13 wickets in just four matches at an average of 10.38, and was named Best Bowler of the Tournament.
Leading Karachi Kings’ bowling attack in PSL 2025
Speaking to PCB Digital, Hasan said: “I’m satisfied with my performance as I’m leading the bowling charts after six games for Karachi Kings. It feels great when you take wickets for your team regularly.”
On his current form, he added: “I haven’t made any major changes to my bowling. Instead, I’ve focused on the basics, fitness, and diet — and that has made a big difference.”
Leadership alongside David Warner
Hasan is also serving as vice-captain under David Warner, who is playing his debut PSL season and leading Karachi Kings. The team has won three and lost three matches so far.
“I’m enjoying the responsibility of being the vice-captain of one of the biggest HBL PSL franchises. Warner is a team man and brings great experience. The younger players are learning so much from him.”
Looking ahead: big clashes and playoff push
Reflecting on their narrow five-run loss to Quetta Gladiators, Hasan said: “We took that game lightly and paid the price. In T20s, matches can flip in one or two overs. But we’re still in a strong position and aim to finish in the top two.”
Hasan is eagerly anticipating the upcoming rivalry clash: “We’re excited to face Lahore Qalandars on 4 May. Hopefully, we’ll play in front of a packed crowd and entertain the fans with high-quality cricket.”
Hasan’s journey from a promising emerging player to PSL’s all-time leading wicket-taker reflects his dedication, resilience, and evolution as one of Pakistan’s top T20 pacers.
