Hobart Hurricanes XI will represent Australia in the second edition of the ExxonMobil Guyana Global Super League (GSL), a T20 tournament set for 10–18 July 2025, offering a high-level offseason opportunity for players to develop white-ball skills ahead of the Australian domestic season.
The GSL 2025, to be held in Guyana, will feature five teams from across the globe, with the Hurricanes aiming to capture the title in the Caribbean. The timing of the tournament enables the Hurricanes to send a competitive side, as it takes place during the Australian offseason and immediately after the conclusion of Major League Cricket (MLC) in the United States.
Hobart follows in the footsteps of Cricket Victoria, which finished as runners-up in last year’s inaugural GSL tournament, falling to the Rangpur Riders of Bangladesh in the final.
Strategic development opportunity for Tasmanian players
Salliann Beams, High Performance General Manager at Cricket Tasmania, expressed enthusiasm about the competition’s benefits for player development and preparation.
“The Guyana Global Super League provides our male playing group with another competition with real stakes to help prepare themselves for the rigours of the Australian domestic summer while continuing to develop their white-ball skills,” said Beams.
“To be able to send a team to an overseas tournament in different conditions, against different opposition, will give our athletes a chance to test themselves further.”
Beams added that the Hurricanes XI squad, yet to be announced, will feature a mix of top-end talent and emerging players seen as key components of the franchise’s long-term plans.

The Hobart Hurricanes XI squad for the Global Super League in Guyana is expected to be revealed later this month. The event is poised to further elevate the international footprint of Australian domestic teams and offer greater exposure to upcoming talent.
This tournament continues the expansion of the T20 franchise ecosystem into new geographies, with Guyana and ExxonMobil investing heavily to grow the competition’s stature within the global cricket calendar.
