2025 Global Super League set for high-octane return at Providence Stadium
The Rangpur Riders will return to defend their title at the 2025 ExxonMobil Guyana Global Super League (GSL), while New Zealand’s Central Stags are set to make their much-anticipated debut in the international T20 tournament. The second edition of the GSL will take place from July 10 to 18 at Providence Stadium in Guyana.
For the Central Stags, the GSL appearance marks their first international tour in 15 years and a historic debut in the competition. The 2024/25 Dream11 Super Smash champions will be the first-ever New Zealand side to feature in the GSL, arriving in Guyana after a dominant domestic campaign.
Central Stags arrive with form, history, and momentum
The Stags’ participation coincides with Central Districts Cricket’s 75th jubilee, making their return to international club cricket especially significant. They clinched their fourth national T20 title earlier this year by defeating the Canterbury Kings in the Super Smash Grand Final after topping the regular season table.
Captain Tom Bruce was named both the Stags’ and New Zealand Cricket’s Men’s Super Smash Player of the Year, finishing with a strike rate of 157.67 and standout performances in the field. Blair Tickner led the bowling attack, emerging as the competition’s top wicket-taker.
“For the 2025 generation to have this opportunity to play in Guyana… is a very special way for us to enter our 75th jubilee season,” said Lance Hamilton, CEO of Central Districts Cricket.
The GSL squad is yet to be named, but is expected to include core members from the title-winning lineup.
Rangpur Riders return to defend their 2024 title
The Rangpur Riders, one of the premier franchises in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), are set to return to Guyana to defend their 2024 GSL title, which they won with a dramatic final victory over Cricket Victoria.
Led by captain Nurul Hasan, the Riders delivered a well-balanced campaign. Soumya Sarkar was a standout with 188 runs across five innings, while Kamrul Islam Rabbi finished as the team’s top bowler with seven wickets.
“The Rangpur Riders added tremendous excitement, skill, and professionalism to last year’s event,” said Sir Clive Lloyd, Chair of the ExxonMobil GSL. “We eagerly anticipate their return to Guyana.”
GSL 2025 promises elite global competition
This year’s GSL will also feature elite T20 franchises from around the world, including hosts Guyana Amazon Warriors—2024 CPL runners-up—and Big Bash League champions Hobart Hurricanes.
With top-tier international talent, passionate crowds, and Guyana’s iconic Providence Stadium as the backdrop, the 2025 GSL is poised to be a landmark event in the global franchise cricket calendar.
