The International Cricket Council (ICC) has expressed its deep sorrow over the passing of Bismillah Jan Shinwari, a respected Afghanistan umpire and member of the ICC International Panel of Umpires. He passed away at the age of 41.
Bismillah had officiated in 25 Men’s ODIs and 21 Men’s T20Is, earning the respect of players, colleagues, and officials throughout the global cricket community. His most recent international assignment was at the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 in Al Amerat, Oman, in February 2025.
