Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) is the sole independent governing body for managing, organizing, and developing cricket in Afghanistan. The game of cricket was officially established in 1995 in Afghanistan. It was granted affiliate membership by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 2001, associate membership of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) in 2003, and full membership of the International Cricket Council in June 2017. Afghanistan has its National Cricket Teams playing among the top 10 cricketing countries of the world.
Job Summary
The High Performance Center (HPC) Manager leads and oversees all development programs under the HPC. The role is responsible for planning, managing, and controlling all HPC activities and budgets. The HPC Manager organizes development courses, training camps, and capacity-building programs to enhance the performance of players, coaches, technical staff, and match officials within ACB.
The position serves as a critical bridge between domestic and international cricket by implementing structured skill development pathways. The HPC Manager is also responsible for improving the knowledge and capacity of technical staff and match officials through refresher and educational programs. The HPC functions as a center for player rehabilitation, injury management, fitness, and the development of technical, tactical, and physical competencies.
Duties & Responsibilities
Plan and prepare annual operational plans and budgets for HPC activities.
Ensure all HPC activities are implemented smoothly in accordance with approved plans and budgets.
Develop and implement comprehensive high-performance strategies to identify, nurture, and develop cricketing talent.
Formulate and enforce structures, policies, and guidelines for technical staff and match officials to support high-performance objectives.
Establish and maintain performance monitoring systems, including fitness testing, player assessments, and data tracking.
Ensure that operational plans are put in place for team and player development and ensure that these are carefully monitored and executed
Ensure all staff perform their duties effectively and in line with planned activities.
Monitor performance standards and ensure appropriate personnel are engaged to enhance athlete development.
Act as a strategic link between domestic and international cricket programs.
Foster a high-performance culture based on optimism, passion, integrity, courage, respect, and teamwork.
Promote innovation and continuous improvement in coaching methodologies, sports science, and performance management.
Ensure compliance with ACB, ICC, and ACC regulations, policies, and best practices related to high-performance cricket.
Submit regular progress and performance reports to the CEO.
Stay well-informed of the latest developments in cricket coaching, sports science, and high-performance management, and integrate these into the program.
Manage risk, safeguarding, and health and safety standards within all HPC programs and facilities.
Provide technical and professional support to national teams and other ACB teams as required.
Job Requirements
Minimum Level 2 Coaching Qualification, and a Bachelor’s degree in Sports Science, Physical Education, Sports Management, or a related field is desirable.
Recognized coaching, high-performance, or sports management certifications are an advantage.
Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, especially in high-performance sports environments, cricket development, or elite athlete management.
Proven experience managing multidisciplinary teams, training programs, and performance pathways.
Strong understanding of player development, sports science, fitness, rehabilitation, and talent identification.
Experience working with national and/or international cricket programs is highly desirable.
Excellent leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Computer-literate in MS Office.
Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
