The Role
Barnes Cricket Club is seeking a hands-on Director of Cricket to lead and develop the club's cricket programme. This part-time role will support the advancement of cricket operations across the club, driving high performance in senior cricket, delivering best-in-class junior programmes, and strengthening the pathway between the two. The role has a flexible working pattern across the winter and summer months. The selected individual will receive support from the existing coaching base and wider committee.
Person Specification
Essential
• ECB Level 2 Coach qualification, or equivalent, or higher
• Minimum of five years' coaching experience with junior and senior players
• Track record of performing in 1st XI club cricket or higher
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• Ability to lead and coordinate coaches and volunteers
• Availability throughout both winter and summer programmes
• Community-focused, with a professional approach
• Adherence to ECB safeguarding and DBS requirements
Desirable
• Experience building junior-to-senior pathways
• Experience working with schools or community programmes
• Experience supporting women's and girls' cricket
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in developing strategy and supporting initiatives that strengthen the club's cricket programme across both junior and senior cricket, in line with the committee's goals. They will report directly into the Club Chair.
Lead the coordination of the junior section
• Plan the winter and summer coaching programmes to deliver high-quality sessions
• Recruit coaches and team managers, and deliver programmes in line with ECB-defined safeguarding coaching ratios
• Manage the registration process and maintain junior membership records in Pitchero
• Plan and manage Easter and Summer cricket camps to ensure profitability
• Coordinate with team managers to ensure successful fixture and venue scheduling
• Support the development of women's and girls' cricket
• Build relationships with local schools and the wider community
• Strengthen the transition from junior to senior cricket
• Communicate with parents via WhatsApp and mailing lists
• Manage coaching budgets and monitor income to deliver profitable programmes
Support the running of senior cricket
• Play 18 Saturday fixtures for the 1st XI
• Plan and deliver a high-performance summer training programme for the senior squads, one session per week
• Work closely with club coaches to deliver sessions
• Provide strategic support to senior captains
• Work closely with the Club Chair, Club Safeguarding Officer, committee and volunteers
• Promote a positive, inclusive and ambitious club culture

Safeguarding
