Role Title Senior Manager: Technology & Digital Products
Reports To COO
Contract Type Full time, permanent
Location Cape Town (On-site)

Role purpose

Betway SA20 is South Africa's premier T20 league, featuring six franchises, six cities and 34 matches each summer.

We're appointing a Senior Manager: Technology & Digital Products to own our end-to-end technology and product agenda, including full ownership and management of the entire tech stack - strategy, architecture, vendors and delivery across web, app, ticketing, fan engagement, fantasy, gaming, prediction, broadcast, streaming and OTT. Working closely with the Senior Manager: Digital, this role is a key enabler for the digital and data strategy and keeps SA20 at the forefront of streaming, mobile, AI and fan engagement. A senior hands-on role within a small, agile team, working across all events staged by Africa Cricket Development.

Key Responsibilities
Strategy and roadmap
• Own SA20’s technology and product strategy and multi-year roadmap across the tech stack
• Translate business, commercial and fan priorities into a clear, sequenced delivery plan
• Use market insight, competitive trends and data to prioritise investment and enhance the fan experience.
• Identify where technology, including AI, can create advantage or risk; set architecture principles and technical standards across SA20’s technology estate.
• Advise the leadership on key technology choices, risks and trade-offs

Digital product management
• Own the full product lifecycle for SA20's digital platforms: discovery, build, launch and iteration.
• Develop and maintain roadmaps for full tech stack, website and related digital properties (e.g DAM, messaging platforms e.g. WhatsApp for Business, Youtube, fan data platform and third-party integrations.)
• Drive first-party data collection and consent strategy across web, app, ticketing and fan engagement touchpoints, reducing reliance on third-party data.
• Gather business, technical and operational requirements across the business.
• Manage backlogs and delivery agile methods (Scrum/Kanban) across internal teams and partners.
• Coordinate delivery across concurrent projects, match days and seasonal peaks

Platform and integrations
• Lead integrations across broadcast, streaming, OTT and editorial platforms.
• Own ticketing, fan commerce and CRM integrations, ensuring seamless data flow.
• Direct technology for fantasy, gaming and prediction products, including live data, scoring, leaderboards.
• Design and implement SSO and identity management across fan, staff and partner systems.
• Select and manage technology vendors, agencies, data providers and SaaS partners.

Implementation, adoption, and operations
• Drive technology adoption across editorial, broadcast, commercial and operations teams.
• Work with internal teams and partners to deliver technology on time and within budget.
• Assess new tools and platforms against SA20’s needs and budget.
• Coordinate digital sponsor integrations and ensure timely delivery.
• Embed robust QA, monitoring, release and incident-management processes.
• Ensure compliance with POPIA, security, accessibility and regulatory standards.
• Track uptime, stability and performance during live events, and optimise accordingly.

What we want from you
A senior technology and digital product leader who combines strategic direction with hands-on delivery — comfortable leading vendor selection, product discovery and technical working sessions, with strong product discipline through roadmaps, backlogs and KPIs, and a good sense of where AI adds genuine value and a strong handle on first-party data strategy as third-party cookies decline.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Essential
• 10+ years’ senior technology/ digital product experience, with accountability for vendors, delivery and budgets.
• Experience designing first-party data capture and consent strategies to fuel CRM, personalisation and commercial insight
• Proven ownership of high-traffic consumer platforms across web, e-commerce, app and other platforms
• Expertise in modern web, cloud, integrations and technical architecture
• Leading end-to-end product delivery experience using agile, cross-functional teams.
• Practical experience applying AI and machine learning to commercial and other digital products.
• Knowledge of broadcast, streaming, OTT, ticketing, commerce and CRM integrations.
• Experience implementing SSO, identity, security and technical standards.
• Ability to communicate complex technology decisions to executives and commercial stakeholders.

Desirable:
• Experience with fantasy, gaming or prediction platforms and live data feeds; building a direct-to-fan digital product at scale.
• Sports, media or live-entertainment experience with global/multi-market digital products, and knowledge of cricket fan behaviour.
• Familiarity with content production/OTT workflows and applying AI in sport or media (personalisation, tagging, fan analytics).

Personal Attributes
• Customer and fan focused – Keeps end-user experience central to product and technology decisions.
• Organised and disciplined – Manage multiple priorities, dependencies and deadlines.
• Curious and self-motivated actively exploring emerging technology but stays focused on practical value.
• Flexible and comfortable working outside standard hours to align with match schedules.
• A genuine team player who contributes positively to a shared culture of excellence.
