What is Cambridgeshire Cricket?
Cambridgeshire Cricket Board is operated by Cambridgeshire Cricket Limited and is part of the family of organisations that exist to make cricket accessible, available, and enjoyable for people in the county. It is one of the 39 County Cricket Boards that makes up the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and is responsible for all ECB programmes in the county board area.
Established in 1996, the Cambridgeshire Cricket Board (CCB) promotes and develops the game of cricket in the districts of Cambridge City, South Cambridgeshire, East Cambridgeshire, and Fenland through partnerships with cricketing bodies and other appropriate agencies. In 2011, the Board became a Company Limited by Guarantee under the name of Cambridgeshire Cricket Limited.
Cambridgeshire Cricket Limited is responsible for all Participation and Growth activities, supporting recreational cricket, County Age Group cricket, and Talent Pathway Programmes across the County Cricket Board geographical area of Cambridgeshire. The CCB works across a variety of cricket leagues, member associations, educational establishments, facility providers, clubs, community groups, and other organisations to deliver its vision and strategy.

Job Description and Person Specification
Job Title: Women`s & Girls` Participation Officer
Report to: Cricket Development Manager
Hours: 37.5 hours a week
Salary: £25,500 to £28,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Purpose of the Role
To work as a member of the Cambridgeshire Cricket Participation team, leading on our ambition to continue to transform the game for Women and Girls’. The post holder will focus on servicing our existing and establishing more women’s & girls’ clubs and teams, ensuring more female voices are present in clubs and changing the culture and attitude towards female cricket across the county.
Responsibilities
a) Strategic Leadership
• Responsible for the delivery of our 4-year Women’s & Girls’ plan, reviewing this quarterly and updated as required to meet requirements and expectations locally and of the ECB
• Lead for strategic objective 2 within our countywide plan (2025-2028), “Continue to transform the game for Women & Girls’”
b) Club Development
• Service the existing clubs and teams running female cricket across Cambridgeshire to ensure success and sustainability
• Establish more women’s and girls’ clubs and teams across all formats, including All Stars Cricket, Dynamos Cricket, Girls’-only Dynamos Cricket Activation & Soft Ball Cricket, to continue the growth of the game and meet predicted targets
• Support clubs with the development of suitable facilities for female cricket. Identifying areas for improvement and, where possible, linking clubs to suitable funding streams to complete work
• Identify and support female volunteers in clubs. Working with the wider
participation team to ensure these volunteers are suitably trained and supported with the ambition of growing the number of female coaches, officials and volunteers across the county
• Support the Women’s & Girls’ administrator with the running of the Cambridgeshire Women’s & Girls’ Cricket League
c) School Development
• Deliver inspiring and exciting sessions in Primary Schools to ensure a pipeline of new players into the game. Work alongside the Schools and Community Officer to target the most appropriate schools to deliver the most impactful sessions possible
• To work with Secondary Schools to provide opportunities in this setting for girls to have access to cricket
• Organise and deliver school competitions for girls including Chance to Compete, Indoor Schools, Dynamos Schools and the Knight Stokes Cup
d) Culture Change
• Alongside the women`s and girls` administrator, create a Women in Cricket
networking group across the county to support and develop female volunteers
• Deliver the Network and Ignite Pillars of the Metro Bank Girls in Cricket Fund
• Promote & celebrate female role models. Identifying suitable females in cricket across the county and supporting the Marketing & Communications Officer to recognise these individuals
• Identify and support with the development of club case studies
• Recognise and celebrate where cricket is having a social impact for females
e) Community Development
• To deliver our Chance to Shine Street Club for girls, increasing attendance at sessions and meeting KPI’s linked to funding requirements
• Organise and deliver Hard Ball transition sessions to make participants feel more comfortable as they move into different formats
• Explore other community programme opportunities and new recruitment channels to increase the pipeline of players into the game
f) Staff Management
• No direct staff management, but managing resource and allocating workforce to the women`s and girls` participation programme is needed
g) Finance
• Completing budget sheets when required to ensure funding for events and initiatives are in place
• Making sure any budgetary requirements set by funders are meet and adhered to
Knowledge & Experience
• Experience of inspiring people to be passionate about female sport
• Experience of delivering sports activities, particularly with 5-16 year old girls
• Understanding of female sport and the drivers and motivations for female participation
• Inspirational leader that can bring other people with them
• Experience of working in sports development or a similar field
• Experience of leading and driving engagement programmes, including safeguarding implications
• Ability to work effectively across a multi-agency professional and volunteer network and building relationships
• Knowledge of women`s and girls` cricket pathways
• Ability to work using their own initiative when completing tasks
• Ability to drive progress independently while actively supporting the team
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Adaptable nature to accommodate flexible working patterns to meet the demands of working with volunteers (occasional evenings & weekends)
• Strong organisational and planning skills
• Attention to detail and a desire to exceed expectations
• Commitment to ongoing personal and professional development as the role requires
• Be comfortable in working with, and towards, targets at a local level
Other Essential Requirements
• The successful candidate will hold a minimum ECB Foundation or ECB Core Cricket Coach qualification (or equivalent), or be able to achieve over the 2025/6 winter period.
• The successful candidate will be required to undertake an ECB Disclosure & Barring Service Check & complete an online safeguarding module
• Full Driving License & access to a car (which can be used for business use)
• Have the ability and willingness to work from home
• Have the right to work in the UK
• Be located within or close to Cambridgeshire or willingness to relocate to the area
