The Senior Ireland Women’s team currently sit within the ICC’s top ten-ranked teams across both T20 and ODI formats. With qualification secured for the ICC T20 World Cup in June 2026 and participation in the fourth edition of the International Women’s Championship commencing in July 2026, the future is exceedingly bright for a predominantly young and developing squad.

In 2026-27 Cricket Ireland will employ 23 female cricketers with a full-time Team Management Unit led by Head Coach Lloyd Tennant assigned to support the player pool.

Cricket Ireland is seeking a Women’s National Selector to chair the Women’s National Selection panel and help ensure Ireland selects its best players to take to the world stage and continue the progress that has been made following the professionalising of the Senior Team.

The successful candidate will report to the CI Director of High Performance.

The position is a part-time paid role for an initial three-year term and will require the candidate to:

  • Attend Super Series and International matches in Ireland to observe and assess the player pool (approx. 12-15 days per summer)
  • Chair selection meetings for Senior Team and Development squads (approx eight per annum)
  • Attend meetings to review player/team performance
  • Involvement in the annual player contracting process

1. Purpose of the job:
To be responsible for the selection of all Ireland senior women’s teams both home and abroad, the selection of the Ireland Performance Squad (IPS), Ireland Development Squads and the recommendation of player contracts annually.

2. Principal Responsibilities:

  • The National Selector is responsible for convening (with the aid of the Team Manager), chairing meetings and managing the selection of the Ireland senior women’s teams, Ireland Performance Squad (IPS) and Ireland Development Squads and the Super Series domestic core squads.
  • Liaise regularly with the Women’s Head Coach and Ireland Captain to provide help and support in selection matters.
  • Liaise with the Director of High Performance on the process and selection of Ireland women’s teams and Super Series squads.
  • Liaise with the Women’s Head Coach with regard to the health and fitness of players being considered for Ireland selection, and other members of the performance services staff.
  • Attend meetings of the Senior Team Management Group as determined from time to time by the Director of High Performance.
  • Be prepared to undertake any other duties related to the work of these functions as required.

3. Criteria

The National Selector must fulfil the following criteria to apply for such a position:

Mandatory:

  • Knowledgeable in current best practices within High Performance sport
  • Experienced operating in Female cricket – Minimum three years of involvement
  • Available and willing to watch a Super Series and International cricket matches (approx. 12-15 days, May – August)
  • Available to attend CI selection meetings (approx. 8 per annum)
  • Available to attend player/team review meetings
  • Knowledgeable of Cricket Ireland’s strategic plans and player development programmes
  • Possess good communication skills

Preferable:

  • Played or coached international women’s cricket
  • Available and willing to watch domestic club cricket in Ireland.
  • Attend forums on best practice as advised by Cricket Ireland
  • Possess a coaching background

  • Women’s Team Operations Manager
  • Ireland Captain and Players

The position is a part-time paid role for an initial three-year term and will require the candidate to attend Super Series and International matches at home, and up to eight selection meetings annually, which will usually take place in the CI head offices in North Dublin or at a place convenient to the other Selectors.
