Purpose of the Role
In support of delivering a successful ICC Cricket World Cup 2027 across South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia, the Local Organising Committee Board (LOCB) seeks to appoint a Communications Lead to develop and execute the tournament’s communications strategy.
The role is responsible for leading media relations, stakeholder communications, digital communications oversight, and reputation management to ensure consistent, accurate, and timely messaging across all audiences. The successful candidate will play a critical role in protecting and enhancing the reputation of the tournament, ensuring compliance with ICC communications protocols, and leading integrated communications efforts across all host countries.
Qualifications:
Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Media Studies, Marketing Communications, Corporate Communications, or a related field.
Experience:
5–8 years’ experience in:
- Communications, public relations, or corporate communications.
- Proven experience in media relations, stakeholder engagement, and reputation management.
- Developing and implementing strategic communications plans.
- Crisis and issues communication management.
- Major events, sporting events, public sector, or government-related environments.
- Managing digital communications and content platforms.
- Team leadership and people management.
- Managing communications governance and approval processes.
Knowledge:
- Strategic and corporate communications principles.
- Media relations and reputation management practices.
- Crisis communication and issues management frameworks.
- Digital communications and social media platforms.
- Stakeholder engagement and public affairs principles.
- Brand governance, messaging frameworks, and communications reporting.
