Derbyshire County Cricket Club are looking for a skilled and motivated candidate for the
role of Lead Strength and Conditioning Coach within the Sports Science and Medical
Department.
Working as part of an integrated coaching and sports medicine team, you will report to
the Head of Sports Science and Medicine and work with our Chief Medical Officer,
Physiotherapists, Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach, Sports Psychologist and
Development Coaches. The holding of UKSCA accreditation is essential for this role.
This is a full-time role and the successful applicant will be expected to demonstrate
exceptional commitment and knowledge, including working unsociable hours, particularly during the summer months.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Support the Head of Science and Medicine by providing operational leadership
and management of S&C programmes and high- quality delivery to Derbyshire CCC
players and teams
• Manage team of S&C staff including Assistant S&C coach and student interns
• Work closely with the Head of Science and Medicine, Head of Cricket and Professional and Academy Coaching staff to develop and deliver integrated support programmes meeting the performance and development needs of Derbyshire CCC players
• Work closely with the Head SS&M Lead and Bowling Coach in monitoring bowler
workload
• Performance benchmarking and quality management processes for all aspects of
science and medicine services based on ‘best practice’
• Work with the Head of Science and Medicine and other senior managers to align science and medicine to corporate goals
• Facilitate the nutritional provision and advice to all Derbyshire CCC players alongside the club nutritionists.
• Provide the necessary S&C information in order for Derbyshire CCC to comply with the necessary standards of the ECB Injury Prevention and Management (IPM) Audit
• Deliver profiling of Derbyshire CCC squads and hold players accountable for achieving minimum fitness standards, allowing for own creativity in this field
• Input and attend case conference, performance management and other Derbyshire CCC staff meetings
• Input necessary information into the Cricket Squad database for all science and medicine disciplines record keeping and reporting
• Liaise closely with the Head of Cricket and be prepared to undertake any other duties related to the work of these functions
• Engage and put forward SS&M CPD topics and identify own CPD goals
Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications:
• You will have a graduate qualification or equivalent in Sports Science
• UKSCA accreditation is essential
• A post-graduate degree in sports science discipline is desirable
• You will have a good amount of post-graduate experience with plenty of involvement spent in a professional cricket or equivalent full-time professional elite athlete and performance team environment
• Experience in the support and preparation of developing senior and junior athletes
• Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary support team
• You would need a comprehensive CPD Portfolio with a professional sports medicine / S&C bias
• You will be adept in the use of Microsoft Excel, electronic medical databases and performance software
• A valid sports first aid certificate of basic life support and first aid qualification
• Current professional indemnity insurance

This role is subject to an enhanced DBS accreditation.
The role includes regular UK travel during and outside of the County season and may include an overseas touring commitment once a year.
