Durham Cricket are looking to expand its Media and Communications department for the 2026 season with a casual Social Media Assistant.
This casual media opportunity would be ideal for recent media graduates or students looking to gain experience in the sports industry who have a strong passion of social media and knowledge of cricket.
The primary responsibility for the successful applicant would be to assist with Matchday social media coverage on Durham’s official channels.
Match day coverage would include social media updates for both Durham Men and Women throughout the summer - working remotely and on site at Banks Homes Riverside.
Knowledge of cricket and the domestic game is essential for this casual role.
Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Premier Pro is requirement to update social media graphics and highlight videos/reels throughout the duration of the match.
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS NEEDED
- Proven experience working or volunteering in a social media role.
- Proven experience in operating social media channels.
- Experience of working with video editing software, in particular Premiere Pro and/or Canva.
- Solid knowledge of social media (Facebook, X, Instagram, tiktok)
- A strong understanding of cricket, the domestic structure and cricket terminology
- Hard-working, with a constant desire to learn and grow
- Attention to detail
Desirable
- Experience of working at a sports organisation
- Venue or events PR experience
- Qualifications in PR, journalism, communications or a similar area
- A passion for cricket and/or sports
- Experience with digital marketing tools, project management, and content management systems
