1. MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

We have opportunities for a Women’s 1st XI Scorer and a Men’s 2nd XI Scorer to join our team on a fixed-term basis for the 2027 cricket season and beyond. Durham Cricket will appoint two scorers to carry out both scoring roles.

Your main responsibility will be to act as designated match scoring official at relevant matches:

Women’s 1st XI Scorer – all Women’s 1st XI home matches and Women’s Academy and Women’s 2nd fixtures.

Men’s 2nd XI Scorer – all Men’s 2nd XI home matches and some away fixtures.

KEY ADDITIONAL ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide statistical information to the Head Coach, Captain or Director of Cricket as and when required.
• Maintain a detailed knowledge of the Laws of Cricket, in addition to current ECB and ICC match regulations and playing conditions.
• Work as part of the scoring team in conjunction with the scoreboard interface operator to ensure a smooth professional integration of information for display on the electronic screens.
• Work alongside Durham Cricket team analysts to ensure a smooth operation.
• Work with the DLS manager where appointed and manage DLS calculations where required
• Any other reasonable and related duties as requested by the Operations Director

PLACE & TIME OF WORK

The post holder will work from The Banks Homes Riverside or potentially The Racecourse Ground in Durham, as well as grounds around the region and United Kingdom. Due to the nature of the work the post holder will carry out his/her duties as such times/days which are most effective to perform the tasks required. This may involve some out of hours work onevenings, weekends and Bank Holidays.

Skills & experience

2. KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS NEEDED

Person Specification:

• Experience of paper-based scoring at senior level cricket (Premier League or higher) and have at least ECBACO S2 (Level 2), and preferably S1 (Level 3), scoring qualification
• IT literate [Excel, Word, email] with good practical working knowledge of Play Cricket Scorer Pro.
• Ability to pay close attention to detail and concentrate for long periods
• Excellent communicator both written and oral
• Ability to work collaboratively, creating excellent working relationships with cricket officials, ECB and Durham Cricket staff and visitors
• Ability to remain calm under pressure
• Score other Durham games as requested across the Men’s and Women’s Pathway
• Score international fixtures at the venue where requested
• Excellent organisational skills
• Carry out duties to a high professional standard
• Values-driven individual
• ‘Can-Do’ attitude
• Flexibility in working hours and capability to spend long periods away from home
