Role Overview
The Chief Finance Officer (CFO) will play a foundational role in building and scaling of the European T20 Premier League. They will be responsible for financial stewardship, and value creation, working closely with the CEO and investors to transition the league from launch phase to sustainable, scalable growth.
The role requires a hands-on leader who can operate at both strategic and execution levels, balancing financial discipline with aggressive commercial development in a developing cricket market.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Strategy & Control
- Build and lead the league’s finance function from the ground up
- Develop annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and long-term financial models
- Implement robust financial controls, reporting, and governance suitable for PE-backed oversight
- Manage cash flow, runway, and capital deployment during early-stage growth
- Oversee accounting, tax, audit, and regulatory compliance in Ireland and relevant jurisdiction
Franchise & League Economics
- Manage franchise financial pool, including:
- Franchise fees
- Revenue-sharing mechanisms
- Central cost allocation
- Player salary caps
- Ensure financial sustainability and alignment across franchises
- Act as financial advisor to franchise owners and operators
Investor Relations & Capital Management
- Serve as the primary financial interface with equity investors
- Support capital raises, follow-on funding, and strategic partnerships
- Lead investor reporting, valuation analysis, and exit-readiness planning
- Coordinate financial due diligence on investors/franchise owners
Strategic Growth & Expansion
- Partner with the CEO/Board on league expansion, new franchises, and international positioning
- Evaluate cross-border opportunities (Europe, associate cricket markets)
- Build scalable systems to support league growth
- Establish KPIs and performance dashboards across finance and commercial functions
- Assist in formulating strategic direction and supporting tactical initiatives
- Design, monitor and direct the implementation of strategic financial business plans
- Develop financial and tax strategies and implement short- and long-term departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures
- Manage reserves, annual operational and event budgeting processes, and assist in the development of ‘special project’ budgets and planning
Commercial Revenue & Monetisation
Support the development and execution of the league’s commercial strategy, including:
- Media and streaming rights (International with a key focus on India, UK, Ireland and Netherlands)
- Develop digital-first platforms to provide exposure and monetisation
- Sponsorships (title, central partners, team partners)
- Ticketing, hospitality, and matchday revenues
- Licensing, merchandising, and digital IP
Additional responsibilities:
- Support negotiations for major partnerships
- Identify and launch new revenue streams appropriate for an emerging market (OTT, community engagement, grassroots tie-ins clubs etc)
Ideal Candidate Profile
Experience
- 12–18+ years in senior finance and commercial roles
- Experience in cricket strongly preferred
- Demonstrated success in closing sponsorship, media, or strategic partnership deals
- Experience with multi-entity models
Skills
- Strong financial modelling and capital management skills
- Commercially aggressive, but financially disciplined
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity and early-stage environments
- Strong negotiation and stakeholder management capability
- Able to represent the league credibly with investors, broadcasters, and sponsors
Qualifications
- ACA / ACCA / CPA / CIMA qualification
- Understanding of European sports and cricket ecosystems advantageous
