Gloucestershire County Cricket Club
Description
McBride Sport is proud to be retained by Gloucestershire Cricket to find its first-ever Chief Commercial Officer — one of the most significant executive appointments in the Club's recent history. Over the past two years, Gloucestershire Cricket has undergone substantial executive and governance change, delivering a trading turnaround of more than £1 million and building a significantly stronger platform for long-term success. But financial sustainability will only be achieved through sustained commercial growth and that's where this role comes in.
This newly created position has been designed to deliver a material step change in commercial performance, in support of the Club's wider ambition to become a "Top 8 Club." The Club is looking for candidates who are up for a challenge and are genuine change agents. This is far more than a traditional Head of Commercial role. The successful candidate will build a genuinely integrated commercial operation, bringing sponsorship, ticketing, hospitality, conferences, events, catering, memberships, digital engagement, and customer experience together to maximise revenue; all under the Club's "One Club" philosophy. You will:
Join the Executive Team and take ownership of every commercial revenue stream across the organisation
Lead commercial operations from the Seat Unique Stadium
Deliver against a bold 2029 vision: £1m+ annual sponsorship revenue, 100% T20 ticket inventory sold, and membership growth to 5,000
Help shape the Club's long-term commercial future through Project Grace
Lead two direct reports and build a high-performing commercial culture
We're looking for a commercially entrepreneurial leader who has senior commercial leadership experience with proven responsibility for multi-million-pound revenue targets and a track record of delivering sustained commercial growth and securing major sponsorships and partnerships along with experience managing multiple commercial income streams and leading high-performing teams. You will be able to thinks strategically, and act entrepreneurially whilst leading through influence. Ideally, you will bring experience from professional sport, major events, stadia or venue management, hospitality, or premium consumer brand background but applications from those in adjacent sectors are welcomed.
You will inherit a senior role in an organisation that has already done the difficult work of financial stabilisation and governance reform. The next phase is about ambition.
Few roles in county cricket offer the breadth, autonomy, and potential for long-term legacy that this position provides. For a confidential conversation, contact Neil Edwards at McBride Sport.
