Women’s Assistant Coach (Batting Specialist)
Gloucestershire Cricket is seeking a Women’s Assistant Coach (Batting Specialist) to
support the performance and development of the 1st XI squad and Emerging Player
Programme.
Working Arrangements
Location: Seat Unique County Ground, Bristol, BS7. The role includes travel to other
locations.
Employment type: 0.5 FTE, fixed term
Working hours: 17.5 hours per week, including some early mornings, evenings, weekends
and bank holidays as required.
We are open to discussing how the 17.5 hours are structured, while recognising the
operational requirements of the role.
Salary: £15,000 per annum
Reports to: Women’s Head Coach
About the Role
The Women’s Assistant Coach (Batting Specialist) is responsible for the development and
performance of batters across the Women’s 1st XI and Emerging Player Programme.
The role includes developing players in line with the Talent Development Framework and the
Head Coach’s playing philosophy. They will do this through specialist coaching and implementing individualised development plans.
The individual will contribute towards selection and whole-session design, as well as the
leadership of the programmes in the Head Coach’s absence.
The Women’s Assistant Coach will play an integral role in setting the women’s team within
the legacy of Gloucestershire CCC, inspiring the county through cricket and helping the
programme reach its ambition of being Tier 1 ready in 2029.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the batting strategy for the 1st XI and EPP, in line with the
- TDF and Head Coach’s playing philosophy, including technical, tactical and
gameplay development. - Develop a batting group that can dominate Tier 2 cricket in both 50-over and T20
cricket, with the potential to also operate at professional level. - Contribute towards producing batters who go on to play for Tier 1 academies,
- Gloucestershire 1st XI, professional teams and international cricket.
- Deliver whole-group, small-group and 1-to-1 batting sessions across the Women’s
1st XI and EPP. - Undertake leadership of training and matches in the Head Coach’s absence.
- Assist the Head Coach with match-day operations and preparation for both home
and away fixtures. - Work brilliantly within the MDT and alongside other coaches to fast-track player and
squad development. - Contribute towards individual development plans, leading on batting with regular
note-keeping. Implement IDPs in day-to-day interactions and within sessions. - Work closely with the analyst to provide detailed feedback and analysis on both
opposition and Gloucestershire players. - Work within safeguarding best practice in line with ECB and Gloucestershire Cricket
policies, ensuring timely and accurate reporting of safeguarding concerns.
Required Skills and Experience
- UKCC ECB Level 2 or international equivalent.
- Experience of positively impacting the development of high-performing players.
- Experience of leadership in the delivery of sessions and matchdays.
- Strong emotional agility, with the ability to adapt to what the team or individual needs
at specific times. - Ability to manage time and workload, meet deadlines and communicate clearly in
advance. - Willing and able to work flexibly, including some early mornings, evenings, weekends
and bank holidays where required by the role. - Proficient with IT and technology.
- Able to meet and maintain the safeguarding requirements of the role, including the appropriate DBS, safeguarding and First Aid certifications. Support will be provided to obtain or renew required certifications where appropriate.

Desirable Skills
- Experience of working within women’s cricket and/or an understanding of the
women’s cricket landscape, with a desire to learn more. - UKCC ECB Level 3 or international equivalent.
