Direct Reports: x2 Event Coordinators
Place of Work: LOC Headquarters, South Africa (with travel across South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia)
Employment Type: Fixed-Term Contract
Contract Duration: 01 October 2026 to 31 December 2027
Reason for Fixed-Term Appointment: Project-based work

3. Purpose of the Role

The Events Lead will drive the planning, coordination, and delivery of all tournament events, official functions, ceremonies, fan engagement initiatives, Fan Parks, host city activations, and match-day presentation activities for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2027.
This role will oversee the successful execution of the Event Promotion Programme, ensuring compliance with ICC requirements, stakeholder expectations, and host country commitments.

4. Key Responsibilities & Duties

The employee will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Lead the tournament's events and fan engagement strategy across three host nations.
  • Plan and deliver official tournament functions, launches, ceremonies, and stakeholder events.
  • Manage the Opening Ceremony concept, planning, budget, and execution.
  • Oversee Fan Parks, fan engagement programmes, and host city activations.
  • Coordinate airport, city, and venue branding and promotional activities.
  • Manage match-day presentation, entertainment, ceremonial protocols, and spectator experiences. Oversee ticketing, hospitality, accreditation logistics, and stakeholder fulfilment.
  • Lead the Continental Trophy Tour and strategic promotional activations.
  • Manage event budgets, risks, suppliers, agencies, and operational compliance.
  • Lead and develop a team of Event Coordinators while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Own and manage speaker, script, presentation, and event-content approval processes, ensuring governance, compliance, and stakeholder sign-off requirements are met.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Host Cities, government stakeholders, ICC representatives, sponsors, partners, venues, suppliers, and service providers to ensure successful tournament delivery.

5. Minimum Requirements
Qualifications

  • Degree in Event Management, Marketing, Hospitality Management, Communications, Public Relations, Business Management, or a related field.

Experience
5-8 years' experience in:

  • Event management, major event delivery, or event operations.
  • Large-scale sporting, entertainment, or public events.
  • Managing stakeholders, host cities, suppliers, budgets, and project delivery.
  • Leading teams and delivering projects across multiple locations.
