As the Volunteers & Legacy Manager, you will play a pivotal role in building and leading a diverse volunteer workforce that will help bring the tournament to life, while driving programmes that leave a positive and sustainable legacy long after the final match is played. Position Details

Reporting To: Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Place of Work: LOC Headquarters (South Africa) with travel across host countries

(South Africa, Zimbabwe, Namibia)

Employment Type: Fixed-Term Contract

Contract Duration: From October 2026 to December 2027

Reason for Fixed-Term Appointment: Project-based work.

Purpose of the Role

In support of delivering a successful ICC Cricket World Cup 2027 across South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia, the Local Organising Committee Board (LOCB) seeks to appoint a Volunteers & Legacy Manager to lead the tournament’s volunteer programme and legacy initiatives.

The role is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing volunteer recruitment, training, deployment, and engagement programmes, while driving meaningful social, economic, and community legacy outcomes. The successful candidate will ensure the delivery of a world-class volunteer experience and sustainable legacy initiatives that create lasting impact beyond the tournament.

Purpose of the Role

The employee will be responsible for, but not limited to:

▪ Develop and implement the end-to-end volunteer strategy and programme for ICC Cricket World Cup 2027.

▪ Lead volunteer recruitment, screening, selection, onboarding, training, and deployment in collaboration with HR Officer.

▪ Design volunteer roles aligned to operational and functional requirements.

▪ Manage volunteer workforce planning, scheduling, engagement, recognition, and wellbeing initiatives.

▪ Build and maintain partnerships with government entities, educational institutions, and community organisations to support volunteer recruitment and participation.

▪ Develop and implement the tournament legacy strategy aligned to LOC and ICC objectives.

▪ Drive social, economic, and community impact initiatives that create sustainable benefits for host communities.

▪ Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure successful delivery and long-term sustainability of legacy programmes.

▪ Establish governance frameworks, policies, and compliance standards for volunteer and legacy programmes.

▪ Monitor programme performance, risks, budgets, and impact measures.

▪ Provide regular reporting on volunteer participation, programme outcomes, and legacy impact.

▪ Lead cross-functional collaboration to ensure effective programme delivery across all host countries.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications:

Diploma or Degree in:

▪ Event Management

▪ Public Administration

▪ Social Sciences

▪ Business Management or related field

Experience:

5–8 years’ experience in:

▪ Volunteer management and/or large-scale event workforce coordination

▪ Legacy, CSI, or community impact programmes

▪ Major events (sports tournaments, international events, or similar)

▪ Working with government entities and community organisations

▪ Working with multi-stakeholder environments

▪ Proven track record in delivering large-scale programmes end-to-end

▪ Experience in managing teams and cross-functional coordination

Knowledge:

▪ Volunteer programme design and management

▪ Legacy programme development and community engagement principles

▪ Recruitment, training, and deployment of volunteers

▪ Safeguarding and volunteer management standards

▪ Event operations and workforce planning

▪ Stakeholder and partner relationship management

▪ Budgeting and resource planning for programmes
