2. Position Details
Job Title: IT Manager
Department: IT
Reports To: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Place of Work: LOC Headquarters, South Africa (with travel across South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia)
Employment Type: Fixed-Term Contract
Contract Duration: From November 2026 to December 2027
Reason for Fixed-Term Appointment: Project-based work
3. Purpose of the Role
The IT Manager will lead the planning, implementation, and management of technology systems and infrastructure for the Local Organising Committee (LOC). The role is responsible for ensuring secure, reliable, and efficient IT operations across offices, venues, and operational sites, while supporting tournament readiness, cybersecurity, stakeholder requirements, and technology service delivery.
4. Key Responsibilities & Duties
▪ The employee will be responsible for, but not limited to:
▪ Develop and implement the LOC's IT strategy in alignment with tournament requirements and ICC standards.
▪ Oversee the setup, maintenance, and support of IT infrastructure, networks, systems, and user services.
▪ Ensure reliable system performance, connectivity, helpdesk support, and IT service delivery across tournament operations.
▪ Lead cybersecurity, data protection, disaster recovery, and business continuity initiatives.
▪ Manage IT assets, software licensing, technology procurement, and vendor relationships.
▪ Coordinate technology delivery with internal departments, host-country partners, Cricket South Africa, venue teams, and service providers.
▪ Lead IT projects and venue technology readiness programmes to support tournament operations.
▪ Support test events and provide on-site IT leadership during key tournament phases.
▪ Establish IT policies, governance frameworks, reporting mechanisms, and compliance controls.
▪ Monitor IT performance, risks, service levels, and operational readiness throughout the tournament lifecycle.
5. Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
▪ Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
Experience
5-10 years' experience in:
▪ IT management or senior IT roles.
▪ Managing IT infrastructure, networks, systems, and service delivery.
▪ Large-scale events, sports tournaments, or multi-site operational environments.
▪ Managing IT vendors, service providers, and technology projects.
6. Skills & Competencies
▪ Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
▪ Expertise in IT infrastructure, systems administration, and service management.
▪ Strong cybersecurity, risk management, and business continuity knowledge.
▪ Project management and stakeholder coordination capability.
▪ Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
▪ Strong planning, organisational, and leadership skills.
▪ Customer-focused approach with the ability to perform under pressure.
▪ High attention to detail and commitment to operational excellence.
