About the KNCB
The Koninklijke Nederlandse Cricket Bond (KNCB) is the national governing body for cricket in the Netherlands. We oversee all elements of the game — High performance & national selections, local competitions, cricket development, local & international events, and education of officials and coaches — and represent the Netherlands internationally as an ICC
Member.
As we strengthen our domestic structure and accelerate participation growth, we are recruiting a Director Domestic Cricket to lead the game forward in the Netherlands.
Role Purpose
The Director Domestic Cricket leads the four core pillars of Dutch cricket:
• Cricket Development – club support, youth & women’s growth, facility development, education & pathway for coaches (4 FTE).
• Competitions – league structures, scheduling, regulations, and match official appointments (2 FTE).
• Events – domestic finals, ICC qualifiers, and international home series (1 FTE).
• Match Officials – education, performance, and pathways for umpires and scorers (0.3 FTE).
You will ensure these areas work seamlessly together to deliver a strong, well-governed, community-focused cricket ecosystem — from grassroots participation to the highest domestic level. You will be part of the KNCB Management Team.
This role also embeds ICC expectations: a strong focus on participation growth, aligned use of ICC development tools, and a modern approach to training, education, and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Participation & Development (ICC-Aligned)
• Lead the nationwide rollout of grassroots and participation programmes, including the ICC Criiio Cricket Programme and other ICC-supported initiatives.
• Set a clear national strategy for participation growth — across ages, genders, and communities.
• Build strong development relationships with clubs, local governments, and ICC Europe.
• Support clubs in growing youth and women’s sections and improving local delivery capacity.
• Lead KNCB activations and festivals such as Women’s Festivals, Olympic Day, Criiio Festivals, and link them to international matches hosted by the KNCB.
• Strengthen and align Regional Development Officer’s roles, KPIs and responsibilities with the ICC’s development metrics.
Competitions & Operations
• Oversee all domestic competition structures, regulations, and scheduling.
• Ensure high-quality delivery of all national finals, events, and ICC-sanctioned fixtures.
• Align pathways between grassroots, domestic competitions, and high-performance environments.
Training, Education & Match Officials
• Lead the development and growth of Dutch coaches, umpires, and scorers across all levels.
• Ensure the KNCB uses the full suite of ICC training and education products.
• Explore and shape the potential recruitment of a Training & Education Officer to manage ICC courses and quality assessments, as encouraged by ICC Europe.
Governance, Reporting & Leadership
• Line-manage all staff within the four pillars of Domestic Cricket.
• Manage departmental budgets and contribute to organisation-wide financial planning.
• Together with the clubs build transparent structures and measurable growth targets.
• Oversee annual participation reporting and ensure accurate delivery of ICC Census data.
• Represent the KNCB with clubs, regional boards, local governments, and ICC Europe.
Skills & Experience Required
• Proven leadership and management experience in a sport or event-driven environment.
• Strong cricket knowledge, ideally within Dutch or European cricket.
• Experience in competitions, development programmes, or operational delivery.
• Ability to build positive relationships with clubs, volunteers, staff, and external partners.
• Financial and operational management experience.
• Excellent communication skills in English and preferably Dutch.
• Strategic mindset with a hands-on ability to get things done.
• Flexibility — this role does not run on office hours; weekends and evenings come with the territory.
