About Leicestershire County Cricket Club
Leicestershire County Cricket Club (LCCC) is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Leicestershire as well as being representative of the county of Rutland. The Club's limited overs team is called the Leicestershire Foxes.
Leicestershire County Cricket Club are looking to expand the Club’s Media & Communications team with the appointment of a Social Media Assistant for the remainder of the 2026 season.
This role is ideal for a recent graduate, student or aspiring sports media professional looking to gain hands-on experience within a professional sporting environment, with a particular focus on live sport content and social media coverage.
The successful candidate will take a leading role in the Club’s Women’s matchday media coverage, whilst also supporting the Men’s media operation across the summer. The role will involve both on-site and remote working across domestic cricket fixtures and Club events.
Job Role: Social Media Assistant
Reports to: Communications & Media Manager
Job Profile: The Social Media Assistant will support the delivery of engaging digital content across the Club’s official channels, with a particular focus on live matchday coverage, short-form content creation and day-to-day support for the wider Media & Communications team.
Weekly hours: Casual hours, with an emphasis on matchdays during the cricket
season.
Location: Uptonsteel County Ground, Grace Road, Leicester, LE2 8AD
Key Responsibilities:
Matchday Social Media
• Lead live social media coverage for Leicestershire Foxes Women fixtures across all official Club platforms.
• Support live matchday coverage for Leicestershire Foxes Men fixtures.
• Deliver fast, accurate and engaging updates throughout matches.
• Create platform-specific content for X, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube.
• Assist with post-match content including highlights, graphics, interviews and reels.
• Capture behind-the-scenes content including warm-ups, arrivals, celebrations and supporter engagement.
Content Creation
• Produce engaging photo, video and written content for Club channels.
• Edit short-form social-first video content for reels, TikTok and YouTube Shorts.
• Support the creation of graphics and digital assets where required.
• Assist with player features, interviews and promotional campaigns.
• Ensure content remains consistent with the Club’s tone of voice and branding.
Communications & Media Support
• Support the wider Media & Communications team with day-to-day content delivery.
• Assist with website updates, match reports and editorial content.
• Work alongside commercial and marketing teams to support sponsor activations and campaigns.
• Monitor trends, audience engagement and social media performance.
• Help identify creative opportunities to grow the Club’s digital audience.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Essential
• Strong understanding of cricket and the domestic game.
• Experience operating social media channels.
• Experience creating content for social platforms.
• Excellent written communication and copywriting skills.
• Confident using Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Premiere Pro and Photoshop.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced live sport environment.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays throughout the season.
• Hard-working, proactive and eager to learn.
Desirable
• Previous experience working or volunteering within sport or live events.
• Experience covering live sporting events.
• Photography and videography experience.
• Experience using DSLR cameras and social media scheduling tools.
• Relevant qualification in media, communications, journalism, marketing or a related field.
• Understanding of current social media trends and platform behaviour.
