Manawatū Cricket Association | Full-time | Palmerston North | Salary commensurate with experience

Manawatū Cricket Association (MCA) is committed to ensuring cricket is a game for all — a game that can be played anywhere, by anyone, for life. We’re looking for a dynamic, community-minded leader to grow community cricket across the Manawatū region.

As Community Cricket Lead, you will lead participation growth, club support, competition delivery, retention, and representative pathways. You will be the key connector between MCA, clubs, schools, volunteers, community partners, Central Districts Cricket, and New Zealand Cricket.

Why this role matters

This role leads the engine room of community cricket. You will help ensure programmes are accessible, competitions run smoothly, clubs are supported, and players have clear pathways to grow and succeed.

What you’ll lead

  • Participation and retention plans across all age groups and skill levels.
  • Competition structures, scheduling, regulations, and match operations.
  • Club, coach, and volunteer development.
  • Representative cricket operations and logistics.
  • Community programme delivery across schools, clubs, and community settings.
  • The Cricket Development Officer, casual activators, contractors, and seasonal staff.
  • Community cricket budgets, resources, and operational planning.
  • Participation and retention data, reporting, and insights.
  • Alignment with CDCA and NZC priorities and pathways.
  • Relationships with schools, clubs, and community delivery partners.
  • Inclusive pathways for underrepresented groups.

What you’ll bring

  • Experience in community sport delivery, cricket administration, or a related field.
  • Strong relationship management and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to plan, organise, and manage multiple projects.
  • Confidence leading people, programmes, and systems.
  • Competence with digital tools and databases.
  • Coaching or development qualifications, or willingness to obtain them.
  • Current driver’s licence.
  • Commitment to inclusion, participant experience, and MCA values.

What we offer

We offer a competitive salary package aligned to experience, plus a vehicle for business use and strong professional development support. You will have access to coaching accreditations, sports management training, and conference attendance.

We value collaboration, inclusion, and flexible working where operationally feasible. You will join a dedicated team working towards a shared vision for cricket in Manawatū, with the opportunity to make a direct impact across the community.

Apply now

If you’re passionate about sport, thrive in community environments, and want to help shape the future of cricket in Manawatū, we’d love to hear from you. Apply with your CV and a cover letter outlining your experience and why you’re the right fit for MCA.
