planning, communication and player review activities)

Remuneration: £30 per hour plus £130 for match days, plus reasonable preagreed expenses

MCC Foundation delivers its mission through a connected portfolio of programmes, including the Hub Programme, National Hub Competition, Coach Scholarship Programme, Barclays Knight-Stokes Cup and Cricket Unites.
While individuals have areas of expertise, no role sits within a single programme. We work collaboratively across our portfolio, sharing knowledge, building partnerships and continuously improving what we do. Success is measured not only by individual responsibilities, but by how we contribute to the success of the Foundation as a whole.
16-18 year old Programme
The new 16-18 year old programme is the final stage of the MCC Foundation talent pathway, providing a high-quality performance environment for talented state-school cricketers aged 16-18. The programme combines performance cricket, personal development, progression support and leadership opportunities, helping participants prepare for adult cricket and the opportunities available beyond the age of 18.
Regional Head Coaches are being appointed for the South Boys and South Girls programmes. Training sessions are expected to commence in November and take place at monthly intervals across the South during the winter, leading into a matchplay programme in the summer.
Purpose of the Role
The Regional Head Coach plays a key role in developing the most talented young cricketers within the MCC Foundation network through a new 16-18 year-old programme, creating a high-quality and inclusive performance environment that helps players fulfil their potential.
Working closely with the Regional Programme Manager(s), the Head Coach will plan and lead training and representative fixtures for the South Boys or South Girls programme. The role combines high-quality performance coaching with player progression, holistic development and leadership, helping participants prepare for adult cricket and the opportunities available beyond the age of 18.
The Role
• Lead the planning and delivery of a high-quality 16-18 year old training programme, developing players' technical, tactical, physical and mental aspects of cricket performance.
• Lead the coaching team for the programme, creating a positive, professional and high-performance environment for players and coaches.
• Plan and lead representative fixtures and matchplay, developing appropriate game strategies and preparing players to perform competitively.
• Provide high-quality coaching, observation and feedback, using player review processes and performance analysis to support individual development.
• Identify emerging talent within the MCC Foundation network and support players to progress into appropriate performance environments and pathways.
• Support players in navigating progression opportunities within cricket, including county pathways, university cricket, MCC Young Cricketers and other performance environments.
• Contribute to the delivery of the programme's Cricket+ curriculum, supporting participants' leadership, personal and professional development.
• Support participants to become ambassadors for MCC Foundation and encourage engagement with volunteering and coaching opportunities within local Hub programmes.
• Maintain accurate training, player review and development records, and communicate effectively with Regional Programme Manager(s), Pathway Leads and relevant MCCF colleagues.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues across the Programme Team and wider
Foundation, sharing knowledge and contributing to the successful delivery of MCC Foundation's wider programme portfolio.
• Continuously look for ways to improve the programme, coaching approach and participant experience, helping MCC Foundation deliver high-quality programmes efficiently and effectively.
About You
We're looking for an experienced, motivated and highly skilled cricket coach who is passionate about helping talented state-educated young cricketers fulfil their potential, regardless of background or circumstance.
You'll have recent experience of working in a performance environment, including County Age Group cricket, and a strong understanding of the cricketing landscape in the region, particularly County Cricket Boards, talent pathways and talent identification frameworks.
You'll be confident leading coaching teams, building positive relationships and communicating effectively with players, coaches and stakeholders. You'll be organised, flexible and comfortable balancing coaching delivery with planning, player reviews, administration and communication.
You will need a minimum ECB Level 3/Advanced Coach coaching qualification, current ECB DBS, ECB Safeguarding for Coaches training and in-person First Aid training. Experience using video analysis to support player development would be desirable.

Expenses
• You will only be entitled to claim expenses for pre-agreed travel made in the course of exercising your duties as Regional Head Coach. Food, drink and overnight accommodation will not be reimbursed unless agreed in advance.
• Other than mileage, expenses will only be paid if a receipt is provided.
• Mileage will be paid at £0.35 per mile.
• If using public transport, you may only claim for journeys made by standard class.
• Expenses will be paid within 7 working days of a claim being submitted and approved by the Regional Programme Manager.
