About the job

The Head Coach is responsible for leading the Lord’s Indoor Cricket Centre’s coaching programme. They will inspire and guide a team of coaches to deliver best-in-class coaching across all levels of the game. The role requires strong leadership, strategic vision, and a commitment to continuous programme and professional development.

KEY TASKS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Oversee the delivery of all MCC’s Elite Programmes in both the men’s and women’s game.
  • Oversee term-time and weekly courses, 1 to 1 coaching, and specific group coaching.
  • Oversee the management of the Lord’s Youth Teams.
  • Managing the coaching team inclusive of full-time coaches and a wide-ranging casual workforce.
  • Deliver outstanding coaching sessions which set the benchmark for our other coaches.
  • Managing direct reports through regular meetings and appraisals.
  • Managing the recruitment and induction of new coaches.
  • Implementing coaching initiatives and products to further expand the ICC’s activities, including arranging training for our coaches’ continued professional development.
  • Completing monthly reports, reviewing the previous month and outlining plans for the next 3 months.
  • Promoting an inspirational and aspirational environment for clients and coaches.

VARIATIONS OF JOB RELATING TO MAJOR MATCHES

  • Attendance at all major match-days, including weekends, as required.
  • Any other duties, whether in the Department or elsewhere around the Ground, as required.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

  • Responsible for the safety of yourself and others through adherence to MCC (and legal) safety rules and procedures.
  • Liaison with ECB and MCC colleagues on indoor net safety protocols and procedures.
  • Report any unsafe practices, equipment or circumstances as appropriate.
  • Comply fully with relevant security policies and procedures.
  • Be familiar with fire procedures and evacuation procedures and be prepared to operate when/if trained as a Fire Warden.

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS – SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum ECB Level 3 or equivalent cricket coaching certificate.
  • Significant experience of leading coaches at various levels and driving standards and innovation.
  • Experience of coaching in many different environments and age groups.
  • Experience in using technology to enhance coaching and programme outcomes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including report writing.
  • Experience in networking and building relationships.
  • An understanding of budget management through control of income and expenditure.
  • An understanding of sales processes & different marketing strategies.
  • An excellent understanding of Health & Safety in a cricketing setting.
