Reporting to: London Spirit Women's Head Coach

Contract: 1 year consultancy, to commence ASAP

  • Pre-competition preparation/planning, in-competition period (approx. 1 month) and post-competition review.

KEY PURPOSE OF ROLE

The Women's Batting Coach will play a pivotal role in enhancing individual and team batting performance. The role combines technical expertise, tactical insight, and strong communication to support player recruitment and retention, while contributing to identification and selection processes.

Working collaboratively with the LS General Manager and LS Head Coach, the successful candidate will lead all aspects of batting development, match preparation, and in-game tactical influence. With responsibility for designing tailored programmes for women's batters, the coach will ensure players receive the technical, tactical, and holistic development required to excel at the elite level.

KEY TASKS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Support, as required, player retention and direct-signing decisions.
  • Contribute towards player identification and assessment judgments.
  • Support, as required, Auction preparation and decisions.
  • Contribute towards a high-performance team culture and environment, ensuring player welfare, and uphold the highest standards of integrity and discipline.
  • Support the GM and Head Coach with performance planning and programming.
  • Lead on all elements of batting coaching, preparation and tactics.
  • Support the head coach with team selection decisions.
  • Contribute to pre/post-match planning/review processes and sessions.
  • Influence in-game performance with skilful observation, judgment and communication.
  • Lead on individual player programmes for all batters.
  • Maintain ongoing player communication throughout the year.

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS - SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven specialist batting coaching experience at elite level, ideally including county, franchise, or international cricket.
  • Strong technical expertise in batting and ability to use performance analysis tools and video technology.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and mentor players.
  • Relevant certifications from their national cricket board, such as the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), or Cricket Australia.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a small team and with high profile individuals.
  • Knowledge of player welfare, including first aid and strength and conditioning principles.
  • Up to date safeguarding and DBS checks.
