ABOUT LONDON SPIRIT

London Spirit is a professional cricket franchise competing in The Hundred, England and Wales Cricket Board’s (ECB) ground-breaking Hundred ball competition. Based at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground, the team embodies both the historic prestige of the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) and the innovation of modern sport. Following the ECB’s 2024–25 sale process, the franchise has entered a new chapter with an ownership structure that brings together the MCC with a consortium of global business leaders. This partnership creates a unique platform for London Spirit to expand its international profile, accelerate digital fan engagement, and position itself as a leading global sports brand.

KEY PURPOSE OF ROLE

The Women’s Team Strength & Conditioning Coach will play a pivotal role within the London Spirit Sports Science & Medicine (SS&M) team, driving the physical performance programme, with a primary focus on maximising player availability and ensuring London Spirit players remain robust, explosive, and ready to perform throughout the competition period. The role will deliver evidence-based, individualised strength and conditioning programmes and integrated physical preparation strategies that are fully aligned with the individual needs of the player and the team’s performance philosophy. This is a unique opportunity to thrive in an aspirational, high-performance environment, working in a highly specialised multidisciplinary team (MDT) operating at the forefront of performance sport.

KEY TASKS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

Player management and performance support:

  • Collaborate with domestic and international SS&M teams to ensure seamless communication and player management across pre-competition, competition, and post-competition phases of The Hundred.
  • Optimise pre-competition physical preparation through regular player check-ins and workload monitoring prior to squad arrival.
  • Design, implement, and monitor individualised strength and conditioning programmes tailored to each player’s specific needs, optimising performance and availability throughout the competition.
  • Conduct and interpret physical profiling, load monitoring, performance testing, and wellness data to inform evidence-based player management decisions.

 Operational Delivery:

  • Travel domestically with the team during preparation and The Hundred competition, maintaining continuity of care, performance support, and recovery protocols.
  • Lead gym-based operations, ensuring equipment maintenance and full compliance with professional health and safety standards.
  • Work collaboratively to ensure comprehensive monitoring of player wellness, workload, and availability status throughout the competition.
  • Facilitate physical preparation across all training and competition environments, including warm-ups, recovery sessions, and travel conditioning protocols.

 Team Leadership & Communication:

  • Work collaboratively with SS&M and performance staff on match and training days to optimise player readiness, performance and individualised recovery strategies.
  • Deliver regular player updates and performance reports to the General Manager, Head Coach, and Lead Physiotherapist, and provide informed contributions to multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings to support player management and performance objectives.
  • Support injury rehabilitation through close collaboration with medical staff, ensuring safe, progressive return-to-play outcomes.
  • Compliance & Professional Standards:
  • Maintain accurate, timely performance records on the ECB AMS system.
  • Contribute to audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Stay current with research and innovation in strength and conditioning, sport science, and cricket-specific sports medicine.
